UT Southwestern focuses on a Relationship-Based Care nursing method that allows for a stronger connection between patients and our caregivers. This allows for a more individualized and appropriate type of care. At UT Southwestern, the possibilities to explore your interests and advance your nursing career are limitless.Experience and EducationGraduate of an accredited Nursing program either by a governmental authority nursing board or by a licensing authority that has jurisdiction over approval/accreditation of nursing programs (Texas BON 217.1)One (1) year of RN experience.Required Licenses or CertificationsCurrent Texas (or BNE Compact State) licenseCurrent Basic Life Support (BLS) certificationBSN preferredSpecialty areas may have increased experience/certification requirementsJob DutiesPerform and accurately document physical, psychosocial, and emotional assessments considering age-specific criteria (children, adolescents, adults, and older adults).Actively anticipate patient's and/or patient's family needs and expectations and utilize these in conjunction with their assessment to develop an appropriate plan of care. Utilize critical thinking skills in planning and prioritizing nursing care.Identify and implement appropriate nursing interventions based on the completed assessment. Complete accurate and timely documentation of interventions. Act as an active coordinator of the interdisciplinary plan of care.Evaluate implemented interventions and modify care according to the evaluation. Document interventions and modifications to the plan of care.Adhere to appropriate hospital and/or Department of Nursing policies, procedures, clinical pathways, and nationally accepted standards of nursing practice.Provide appropriate and timely answers and/or education to patients, patient's families, significant others, and/or caregivers.Welcome and orient patient, family, significant other, and/or caregiver to the unit. Encourage patient/family participation in care.Advocate for resources and support that enhance patient safety and unit/hospital-based initiatives.Accountable for patient care and quality/safety initiatives (EX: patient safety, patient satisfaction, core measures, infection control, etc.).Share professional and technical information with colleagues and students.Schedule DetailsMedical/Surgical RN's at UT Southwestern are scheduled for 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM to 7:00 PM) or 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM) and every other weekend at Clements University Hospital on UTSW's Dallas campus.
