Business Analyst IntroWe are seeking an experienced Business Analyst to join our Project Management Office (PMO) responsible for change initiatives throughout the bank. This is a contract position with a target start date of August 6, 2024, and a duration of six months, with the possibility of extension or transition to a full-time role. The position is hybrid, with a preference for 1-2 days a week on-site (Tues/Weds/Thurs).

Business Analyst Job DetailsProject:

Candidate will be working on 2 projects; Treasury ERP and Collections that are in the discovery phase. Responsible for gathering requirements, documenting process flows, test planning, and testing management. The Business Analyst works closely with the Program/Project Manager and is expected to use independent judgment and exhibit autonomy when performing daily tasks, proactively addressing problems and issues within their scope of responsibility as well as identifying areas for possible improvements.

Team Culture:

6-8 people on the team - mostly FTE's. Collaborative - everyone is ready to help each other. Expect a lot of independent work.

Be the liaison between business units, technology teams, and support teams.

Job Description:Requirements Gathering:Collaborate with stakeholders, including business users, project managers, and developers, to gather and document detailed business requirements.Conduct interviews, workshops, and brainstorming sessions to elicit requirements, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the business needs.Analyze and validate requirements, ensuring they are feasible and aligned with project objectives.Documentation of Process Flows:Create clear and concise process flow diagrams, mapping out current and future state processes.Identify process gaps, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.Collaborate with stakeholders to validate process flows and ensure accurate representation of business operations.Test Planning and Management:Develop comprehensive test plans, including test objectives, and test cases (including negative tests) based on gathered requirements.Coordinate with technology development teams to ensure appropriate test environments are set up and ready for testing activities.Execute and manage test activities, including test execution, defect management, and reporting.Collaborate with stakeholders to perform user acceptance testing (UAT), ensuring alignment with business requirements.Project Support:Work closely with project managers, providing support throughout each project lifecycle phase.Assist in project planning, tracking progress, and managing project documentation.Contribute to project risk management and issue resolution.Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure smooth project delivery.Create and distribute meeting minutes for meetings you lead; as well as assistance with note-taking and minutes for other project meetings as needed.Project Planning and Monitoring for BA-related Activities:Assist project managers in developing detailed project plans, including timelines, milestones, and resource allocation.Monitor project progress against established plans, identify potential risks or issues, and propose mitigation strategies.Stakeholder Management for BA-related Activities:Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including business units, IT departments, and external vendors to ensure clear communication and coordination throughout the project.Facilitate regular meetings, workshops, and presentations to update stakeholders on activity progress, risks, and issue resolution.Documentation and Reporting:Create comprehensive project documentation, including business requirement, functional specifications, use cases, and process flows.Develop and maintain project artifacts, such as the business requirements document (BRD), test plan, and process flows.Assist the project manager in preparing reports, dashboards, and presentations to communicate activity status, risks, and issues to senior management and PMO as requested.Process Improvement:Continuously evaluate and improve project management methodologies, tools, and templates to enhance project efficiency and effectiveness.Identify areas for process optimization and contribute to the development of best practices within the PMO.Provide recommendations for streamlining workflows and implementing standardized project management practices.Business Analyst Mandatory Skills8+ years as a Business Analyst in financial services/banking industryStrong experience with Microsoft Office - Visio, Word, ExcelTechnical acumen to translate technical termsPrevious experience leading test planning (defining testing scope, working together with business to find out what needs to be tested to drive UAT test cycle)Business Analyst Desired SkillsRecent experience at CIBCExperience leading a teamKnowledge of AzureProject management experience/backgroundBusiness Analyst Soft SkillsWilling to step in and help program/project managerExhibits autonomyIndependent judgmentProactiveBusiness Analyst Education and CertificationsBachelor's degree with any BA certification ideal but not requiredBusiness Analyst Start DateAugust 6, 2024Business Analyst LocationChicago, Illinois, United StatesKeywords:
