As a server lead on the Overwatch team, you will be part of a hardworking and passionate team developing world class server technology, unlocking the potential of our engineers, designers and artists to create compelling and exciting features and keep players engaged for years to come. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the challenges involved with authoring game server infrastructure, features and systems, comfortable leading a team of engineers and collaborate closely with other internal teams. This role is anticipated to be a hybrid work position, with some work on-site and some work-from-home. The potential home studio for this role is Irvine, CA. Priorities can often change in a fast-paced environment like ours, so this role includes, but is not limited to, the following responsibilities: RESPONSIBILITIES Provide technical direction and personnel management for the server infrastructure team Serve as an active member of team’s engineering leadership Own the process of continual improvement for the server engineering team Collaborate with engineers, producers, designers, and internal partners to implement features and continually improve our platform Work with other leads and producers to establish tasks and schedules Maintain effective relationships with key internal partners Minimum Requirements Experience Minimum of 5 years’ experience in AAA game development Experience creating and extending reusable server technology Experience working on a networked multiplayer game Experience working on and maintaining a live game Previous leadership experience Knowledge & Skills Strong C++ programming skills Passion for server and/or networking technology Experience integrating a game with various 1st and 3rd party platforms Experience working on first-person or other action-oriented games Experience working with large scale distributed systems Excellent verbal and written communications skills Key Attributes Passion for playing and making video games Passion for continuing education and improvement Your Platform Best known for iconic video game universes including Warcraft, Overwatch, Diablo, and StarCraft, Blizzard Entertainment, Inc. These values reflect the expected base pay range of new hires across all U.S. locations. Ultimately, your specific range and offer will be based on several factors, including relevant experience, performance, and work location.
