I&C Programmer

OVERVIEWMcKim & Creed is a leading top 150 ENR-ranked firm, and we are seeking an I&C Programmer to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for WATER projects. We are looking for a professional passionate about programming PLCs and HMIs and familiar with system networking for our Boca Raton office.As an employee-owned company, you will share in the value you create as we continue the growth trajectory that has led us to improving to No. 148 on ENR’s top 500 design firms.WHAT TO EXPECT DAY-TO-DAY:The I&C Programmer is responsible for utilizing and programming PLC control systems, SCADA Systems, and Human Machine Interface software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects. The I&C Programmer works closely with Project Managers, the project team, and clients to implement solutions.Reviews specifications and drawings, writes control system descriptions, and performs start-up and commissioning activities with minimal input from other personnel.Understands and implements communications systems such as Ethernet-based local area networks and wireless radio systems.Creates instrument material take-offs from drawings.Required & Preferred Experience:This is an entry-level role; however, previous experience working with PLC and SCADA software is preferred.Experience troubleshooting problems in operational situations is preferred.Hands-on knowledge/experience with Rockwell PLCs and VTScada software is preferred.Experience with system networking, I&C Drawings (loops, cabinet layout/wiring), and P&ID drawings is preferred.Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects simultaneously is required.The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team is required.Requires process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.Requires maintaining a level of precision and accuracy appropriate to the project demands.Requires excellent communication skills and the ability to understand directives from Project Managers, Contractors, and Regulators.The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying project demands is required.Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.McKim & Creed is an Equal Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer, and VEVRAA Federal Contractor, and will consider all qualified applicants for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, or disability status and maintains a Drug-Free Workplace.Equal Opportunity Employer/Protected Veterans/Individuals with Disabilities
