Provides high level and detailed consulting as network subject matter expert for Optical Network projects to deliver design and build circuits as well as sub-networkPlan, coordinate, install and support optical metro gear/hardwareDevelops, communicates, and revises Optical network standardsPerforms Optical Network (Configuration, Testing, Monitoring, Operations and Network Management)Maintains network documentation including Long-haul optical network maps, circuit drawings, and traffic flow diagramsPlans, schedules, and creates change control records and performs configuration of network elements in a large-scale networking environment in conjunction with change control policies and proceduresPerforms Tier 4 support functions for optical network problems in accordance with problem management process which may involve problems in network as well as other managed devices and services.Escalates problems to the internal Network Engineering and external vendors as required and provides support to resolve escalated network issuePerforms RCA (Root Cause Analysis) on optical network issues; identifies chronic problems and take action to identify and resolve the root cause, performs network configuration changes in response to client issuesTechnical Skills:
Familiar with optical principles of fiber optic communication systemsSenior experience with Photonics and Broadband networksUnderstand optical network troubleshooting at Layer 1 and Layer 2Extensive hands on experience on Ciena products specifically Ciena 6500 and MCPDeep knowledge in fiber characteristics, optical modules, optical protocols, system’s config, DWDM, OTN, wavelength assignment, optical signal amplification, standard testing (ie.
