YWCA Central Maine is searching for a highly qualified individual to fill the full-time salary position of Health and Wellness Program Director. This full-time, benefits eligible position works a flexible schedule to meet the overall needs of the YWCA pool/aquatics facility and health and wellness programs. The Health and Wellness Program Director is responsible for the design, compliance, and oversight of the aquatics programming content, including a robust swim lessons program, daily operations, pool equipment, special events (splash parties), and staff supervision.

The Health and Wellness Program Director is responsible for the overall success and safety of the YWCA Health and Wellness Department activities and works directly with local community partners and vendors to develop creative water safety and fitness programming that serves the mission of the YWCA. The Health and Wellness Program Director is responsible for responding to occasional on-call needs related to the pool and aquatics program in coordination with the Facilities Manager and Chief Operating Officer, maintaining the cleanliness of the pool department area for the health and safety of patrons, and always ensuring adequate staffing.

The full-time position is located in Lewiston. The hours are Monday-Friday, with night and weekend hours based on staff scheduling and coverage needs throughout the year.

Qualifications & Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree, or equivalent relevant experience, in Recreation Management, Physical Education, or another related field is preferred. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard with CPR for the Professional Rescuer required. Lifeguard Instructor certification also preferred.

Minimum of 3 years’ experience as a lifeguard and/or swim instructor

Minimum of 2 years’ experience supervising a team of staff

Experience in teaching swim lessons, water fitness, or other aquatics activities

Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Experience with pool chemicals and maintenance, or willing to be trained

Pay & Benefits:

$52,000 annual salary
