We invested in digitizing our online mortgage application process to help expedite home buying or refinancing for our customers.For the second year in a row, American Banker named Capital Bank one of the "Best Banks to Work For" in the U.S. Come join a bank where our employees thrive and are engaged in meaningful work.Position ResponsibilitiesUnderwrite Conventional HFA, FHA, VA, and USDA loansEnsure compliance with state and federal regulations, in addition to underwriting guidelines from FHLMC, FNMA, MI Companies, DPA agencies and other conduits.Review and analyze appraisal, credit, income, purchase contracts and DPA requirementsSecure MI when requiredIssue loan approval, counter offer, or denialServe as a subject matter expert to processors and originatorsKeep current with changes in underwriting standards and maintain up to date informationOther duties as assignedMinimum Education and ExperienceFive years' experience underwriting Conventional, FHA, VA and USDA loans.DE certification required, VA LAAP certification required.Experience working with DU, LPA, GUS and other applicable automated underwriting enginesPreferred Qualifications and SkillsIn Depth knowledge of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, FHA, VAStrong knowledge of State and Federal laws pertaining to the mortgage banking industry (RESPA, TILA, ECOA, etc.)Strong working experience with FNMA, FHLMC, VA, and FHA underwriting guidelinesExperience with non-conforming loans would be a plusPrior experience with government based underwriting preferredWorking knowledge of the Encompass origination platform.A team player with the ability to work independentlyExcellent customer service skillsAttention to detail with a high degree of accuracyExcellent written and verbal communication skillsProficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Additional DetailsThis position will be a remote role.Supporting Businesses.
