Job Summary:
The Medical Technologist (MT) or Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) II performs specimen processing and routine/complex testing on blood and other specimens, requiring knowledge of quality control, basic instrument maintenance, and procedure methodologies and reference ranges. Maintains appropriate documentation of all activities as required and demonstrates good clinical laboratory practice.Job Responsibilities:Operates all instrumentation in assigned areas to deliver precise, timely, and accurate laboratory results.Trains new laboratory personnel in the use of analyzers specific to that area.Performs quality controls for all equipment and troubleshoots malfunctioning instrumentation as necessary.Reports and maintains records of patient test results through the laboratory computer system accurately, meeting published turnaround times for routine testing and stats.Participates in performance improvement activities and initiatives by proactively diagnosing and resolving problems.Boone Hospital has determined this is a safety-sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function of this job.Performs other responsibilities as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:Degrees: Bachelor’s in Physical/Life Science or related fieldExperience: Less than 2 yearsSupervisor Experience: NoneLicenses & Certifications: ASCP, AMT, AAB or equivalent or eligibleWork Shift:
