We are seeking a Software Engineering Technical Lead to play a key role within our Personal Risk Services (PRS) team in transforming our legacy infrastructure to a modern cloud stack based on API builds. With us, you’ll leverage your engineering and digital thinking mindset to influence the development and implementation of full stack engineering solutions that are robust and scalable to meet evolving business needs. Your role will be multi-faceted, spanning stakeholder engagement, encompassing hands-on engineering, and team mentorship as you support junior to senior full stack engineers within the team as you work to build and implement innovative, often greenfield, solutions that directly impact overall user experience for our business and agency partners.

In this role, you will:

Lead and provide technical guidance to development team in implementing full stack solutions

Design and develop front-end web apps using Angular, HTML, and CSS

Develop and manage backend functionalities through REST APIs constructed with Java Spring Boot

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure efficient and effective application development

Troubleshoot and debug web applications to ensure optimal performance and functionality

Lead rapid development iterations of feature level assignments

Mentor Junior Engineers

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of 10 years of experience as hands-on full stack software engineer; prior experience within the insurance, insuretech, financial services and/or fintech is a strong plus

At least 2-3 years of experience in a technical and/or team leadership capacity

Experience in development of REST based APIs using Open API specification and/or creating specifications w/swagger

Strong hands-on experience in Java/J2EE, Spring Boot, DBMS’ (Cosmos/MongoDB, SQL Server, etc.), Angular and Azure services and Kubernetes (AKS)

Extensive familiarity with tools and methodologies used in large-scale web development

Cloud experience in configuring DevOps, continuous integration, and continuous deployment pipelines

Hands-on experience working with code quality and code coverage tools/frameworks (i.e. SonarQube)

Understanding of how to secure web apps and APIs using OpenID/OAuth2.0 standards

Experience in caching technologies and search is a plus

Experience with or exposure to AI/GenAI is a plus

Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline strongly preferred

In Jersey City, NJ, the pay range for the role is $106,500 to $176,000. The specific offer will depend on an applicant’s skills and other factors. This role may also be eligible to participate in a discretionary annual incentive program. Chubb offers a comprehensive benefits package, more details on which can be found at
