Under the direction of the supervisor and manager, performs basic technical/clinical duties with supervision. Also interfaces with research and ancillary components of the IVF Program.

Procedures:Under supervision, performs collection and preparation of oocytes for insemination, including oocyte microscopic identification, cleaning, distribution in dishes, and insemination. Analysis and preparation of sperm specimens for insemination or for ICSI (Intracytoplasmic sperm injection). This includes analysis and processing of fresh and cryopreserved semen specimens as well as the processing of fresh and cryopreserved specimens surgically obtained by epididymal aspiration or testis biopsy. Assessment of fertilization and zygote quality following insemination. Daily assessment/grading and handling of embryos through Day 6 of in vitro culture.
Advanced Procedures:Under the direction of the supervisor, assists in data collection from patient charts, statistical analysis, data organization, and presentation at institutional, local, national, or international meetings.
Documentation:Assists with performing various data elements.
Quality Control:Monitors equipment reagents, media, and work environment by following quality control guidelines.
Qualifications
EDUCATION:Bachelor's Degree
EXPERIENCE:One year of experience in a clinical laboratory setting performing basic embryology techniques prior to in vitro fertilization preferred.
SPECIAL SKILLS:Excellent written and communication skills with the ability to interact with patients, staff, and physicians.
