HOW YOU'LL MAKE AN IMPACT
Job Summary:
Functions under a registered nurse’s (RN’s) oversight.
Assists Doctors of Medicine (MDs) and RNs with all endoscopy procedures.
Repositions patients on stretchers.
Maintains an environment conducive to patients’ safety.
Assists in admitting and discharging outpatients, including interviewing and documenting the same on charts.
Reports To:
RN/Assistant Nurse Manager or RN/Nurse Manager
Supervises:
None
WHAT YOU’LL NEED TO APPLY
Required Education:
High school diploma (or equivalent)
Preferred Education:
Completion of a formal endoscopy technician training program.
Required Experience:
None at hire
Competent in percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG), esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD), colonoscopies, and bronchoscopies within 180 days (six (6) months) post-hire. Failure to complete the competency requirements within 180 days will result in an action plan. Not meeting a requirement of the job can result in issuance of progressive corrective action, up to and including discharge/termination of employment.
Preferred Experience:
Endoscopy technician experience
Required Certification/License/Registry:
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
Preferred Certification/License/Registry:
Endoscopy technician certification from the Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution (CPSPD), Society of Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates (SGNA), Healthcare Sterile Processing Association (HSPA), and/or the International Association of Healthcare Central Service Material Management (IAHCSMM).
Nursing assistant certification.
