The Senior Database Administrator will work as a part of a team that is responsible for administering, supporting and assisting in the implementation of new and existing SQL systems, data conversions, and data migrations. In this role, you will also be responsible for transact SQL review, database change deployments, and system monitoring of existing systems while assisting in the migration to new systems. Your day will be inclusive of day-to-day administration, performance tuning, and maintenance supporting several core systems. The Database Administrator will also be responsible for reviewing maintenance plans, ensuring 100% of databases are backed up, responding to failures, and writing and testing disaster recovery plans.This is a remote role within the US.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Execute performance tuning, backup, and restoration of databasesProvide daily management of Microsoft SQL Server infrastructure and assure service availabilityMaintain all databases including Development, QA, and Production environmentsOptimize database performance and troubleshoot issuesImplement security measures and ensure data integrityWork with business users, developers, and infrastructure teams to ensure quality productsMaintain policies and procedures to ensure regulatory complianceKeep SQL servers up to date with necessary patchesRelease application database changes to production environmentsPerform server migration/upgrade activitiesPerform other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
5+ years’ experience in database administration of complex production SQL Server database environmentsKnowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2014/2016+Thorough understanding of Relational Databases, T-SQL Scripting, Database Normalization best practices, database technologies, and conceptsHands-on experience troubleshooting and resolving database integrity and performance issues on production serversStrong Performance Tuning and Query Optimization skillsExperience with SQL Server in Azure (Azure SQL Database; SQL on Azure VM)Proficient with SQL Development – ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, constraints)Database Design in a Software Development Environment as a contributorExperience with Team Foundation Server, Visual Studio Team Server, and/or Azure DevOpsPREFERRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & EXPERIENCE:
Real world experience migrating SQL Server to Microsoft AzureExperience establishing, configuring, and maintaining SQL Server AlwaysOn high availabilityPractical expertise configuring and maintaining Microsoft SQL Server Replication in a production environmentExperience with Service BrokerExperience with SSRS, SSIS or SSASBachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field or equivalent experiencePAY RANGE:
CorVel uses a market based approach to pay and our salary ranges may vary depending on your location. Pay rates are established taking into account the following factors: federal, state, and local minimum wage requirements, the geographic location differential, job-related skills, experience, qualifications, internal employee equity, and market conditions. Our ranges may be modified at any time.For leveled roles (I, II, III, Senior, Lead, etc.) new hires may be slotted into a different level, either up or down, based on assessment during the interview process taking into consideration experience, qualifications, and overall fit for the role.
