Nestled deep in the beautiful bay area 5 minutes from downtown Annapolis is our state-of-the-art ER and referral center open 24 hours and 365 days a year. We have 25+ Veterinarians, 50+ Technicians, 20+ Assistants and 20+ Client Service Representatives. We work side-by-side with different specialty practices (Neurology, Cardiology, Internal Medicine, Oncology, Surgery, Ophthalmology, and Rehabilitation) and care for their patients overnight.Available Shift:12pm-12am Saturday and Sunday – Admitting/ICUCompensation!Compensation is based on experience & skill level!RVTs: $28 - $40 per hourNon-credentialed techs: $21 - $35 per hourWhat You'll Get to Do!As a veterinary technician you will commonly:Assess patients upon arrival and prioritize them based on their health status after obtaining vitalsInitiate stabilization treatments such as intravenous catheterization, blood collection, fluid therapy, oxygen therapy and administering medications as directed by veterinarianParticipate in the development and implementation of treatment plans created by the veterinarianAdminister high quality patient care through timely monitoring; correctly performs treatments as directed by veterinarianCollect and analyze blood, urine, fecal and skin samples in our in-house laboratory full of Idexx analyzersAdminister anesthetic drugs and adjust them as needed during procedures and surgery, while recording and monitoring vital signsProduce images of soft-tissues, organs and bones safely with digital radiography equipmentPlace nasoesophageal and nasogastric feeding tubes for critical nutrition by mastering various suturing techniquesSupply patients in need with packed red blood cell and frozen plasma transfusionsCorrectly calculates drug dosages and administers drugs as directed by veterinarianLavage and assist in bandaging different wounds and lacerationsProvide top quality care for post-surgical cases, including specialty ICU casesProvides outstanding customer service when triaging, gathering patient information and relevant historyAttend CE courses/webinars or hands-on training as requested by the Clinical EducatorRegularly attend staff meetingsKnowledge and Skill Requirements:Working knowledge and skill required to nurse critically ill and emergency patientsAbility to critically think, problem solve, and make decisions in order to follow through on DVM ordersKnowledge of basic computer functions and the ability to learn new veterinary based software applicationsAbility to work in a fast-paced, stressful work environment.
