JOB SUMMARY:

The GIS System Administrator is a technical role that demands a blend of expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) and Information Technology (IT). This position is primarily responsible for managing and optimizing the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including ArcGIS Online (AGOL), ArcGIS Enterprise, and ArcGIS Pro. The GIS System Administrator will also be involved in data integration, custom application development, and Python scripting for workflow automation. This position also provides support and collaborates with other departments in the enterprise to meet current and future organizational business needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

System Maintenance & Administration:

Oversee the administration of the ESRI ArcGIS platform, including AGOL and ArcGIS Enterprise. Manage GIS users, enterprise geodatabases, and ArcGIS Pro to ensure optimal performance and reliability.Infrastructure Management Assistance:

Work with IT to provision and configure the appropriate hardware for GIS operations. Assist IT with the installation, configuration, and upgrades of GIS software.Data Integration:

Collaborate with IT teams to integrate and manage data from other enterprise data sources, ensuring seamless data flow between GIS systems and other organizational databases.Custom Application Development:

Develop and maintain custom GIS applications and tools to enhance the functionality and usability of the GIS platform. This includes building custom widgets, web apps, and dashboards tailored to organizational needs.Python Scripting & Workflow Automation:

Utilize Python scripting to automate GIS workflows, improve data processing efficiency, and implement automated solutions for routine tasks.Collaboration:

Work closely with IT, Information Security, and other technical system administrators to support system integrations and address cross-functional technical needs. Collaborate with other departments to create maps and applications that visualize their data and assist in decision support.Support & Troubleshooting:

Provide technical support for GIS users, troubleshoot issues related to GIS applications, servers, and data integration, and resolve problems effectively.Documentation & Reporting:

Maintain comprehensive documentation of GIS system configurations, custom applications, and Python scripts. Prepare and deliver reports on system performance, usage, and issues as required.Continuous Improvement:

Stay informed on the latest ArcGIS technologies, best practices, and advancements. Recommend and implement improvements to enhance GIS system performance and capabilities.QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:

Bachelor’s degree in GIS, Geography, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.Experience:

3+ years of professional experience in GIS roles, including hands-on experience with ESRI ArcGIS platforms (AGOL and ArcGIS Enterprise). Experience with custom application development, Python scripting for workflow automation, SQL server data integration, and system administration.Technical Skills:

Strong proficiency in GIS software and technologies, particularly the ESRI ArcGIS suite. In-depth knowledge of server management, database administration, and IT security practices. Skilled in Python scripting for GIS workflows and custom application development.Communication Skills:

Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and provide technical support to users.Problem-Solving:

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving technical issues.WAGE TRANSPARENCY:

The base pay for this role ranges from $30.09 - $38.46 per hour. Compensation will be determined by candidate experience, skills, and location.
