Project Manager/Sr. Project EngineerJob Summary:As a Project Engineer with specialized experience in data centers, you will play a critical role in the planning, execution, and successful completion of data center projects. You will work closely with project managers, design teams, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure that all technical and engineering aspects of data center construction and maintenance projects meet the highest standards. Your expertise will be crucial in ensuring that data center infrastructure is robust, scalable, and reliable.Key Responsibilities:Project Planning and Coordination:Assist in the development and management of project plans, schedules, and budgets.Coordinate with architects, engineers, and construction teams to ensure project milestones are met.Conduct site surveys and feasibility studies to assess project requirements.Organize, review, update, maintain and post construction documents and drawings.Collaborate with project team to complete requests for information (RFI).Review submittals and other project documents for accuracy against plans and specifications.Assist in preparing inspections, compliance audits and the non-conformance log.Monitor material and equipment delivery status.Maintain and distribute accurate project logs (i.e. buyouts, subcontractor material status reports, submittals, RFIs).Understand scopes of work to be included in subcontracts and/or purchase order agreements.Track subcontractor requests for change; solicit pricing and draft change orders within delegated authority.Understand and assist with project schedule management.Attend regular project meetings; record and distribute meeting minutes.Obtain closeout information; gather punch list items; prepare as-built drawings; assist with warranty process.Perform other duties as assigned.Technical Oversight:Oversee the design and implementation of electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems within the data center.Ensure that all engineering activities comply with industry standards, codes, and regulations.Perform detailed engineering analysis and calculations to support project design and development.Quality Assurance:Implement and maintain quality control procedures to ensure that all work is completed to the highest standards.Conduct regular inspections and audits of ongoing construction work.Identify and resolve technical issues that arise during the project lifecycle.Vendor and Contractor Management:Evaluate and select vendors, contractors, and subcontractors based on project requirements.Manage relationships with third-party vendors and contractors to ensure timely and cost-effective delivery of services and materials.Review and approve technical specifications, designs, and work plans submitted by vendors and contractors.Documentation and Reporting:Prepare and maintain detailed project documentation, including design documents, technical specifications, and progress reports.Provide regular updates to project managers and stakeholders on project status, including risks and issues.Ensure that all project documentation is accurate, up-to-date, and stored appropriately.Health and Safety:Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices on site.Conduct safety audits and implement corrective actions as needed.Promote a culture of safety within the project team and among contractors.Stakeholder Communication:Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to align project objectives and expectations.Facilitate meetings and presentations to provide project updates and gather feedback.Address stakeholder concerns and provide solutions to project challenges.Qualifications:Education:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or a related field.Professional Engineering (PE) license is preferred.Experience:A minimum of two (2) years of project engineering experience is required. Previous construction internship experience is preferred.Proven track record of successfully delivering data center projects on time and within budget.Technical Skills:Strong understanding of data center infrastructure, including electrical, mechanical, and HVAC systems.Proficiency in project management software and tools, including Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and project management software (JDE, Procore, Asta, Bluebeam, etc.).Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data center design and construction (e.g., Uptime Institute, TIA-942).Soft Skills:Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.Strong communication and interpersonal skills.Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple stakeholders.Certifications (Preferred):Project Management Professional (PMP).Certified Data Center Professional (CDCP).LEED Certification for sustainability in data center projects.This position may require travel to various project sites and occasional evening and weekend work may be required to meet project deadlines.We are “Leading the Change” in the energy services industry.
