The Pharmacist for ICA/PAB Services at Planned Parenthood of Greater New York (PPGNY) is responsible for the accurate preparation, dispensing, and management of medications used in In-Center Abortion (ICA) and Procedural Abortion (PAB) services. This role requires a deep commitment to providing compassionate and confidential care, ensuring patients receive the necessary education and support related to their medication and overall health. The pharmacist will collaborate closely with healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes and uphold the highest standards of pharmacy practice within the framework of reproductive health care.

Key Responsibilities:

Medication Management:

Accurately prepare and dispense medications used in ICA and PAB services, ensuring compliance with New York State regulations and PPGNY protocols.Patient Education:

Provide clear and empathetic counseling to patients on medication use, potential side effects, and related health concerns, with a focus on reproductive health and abortion services.Team Collaboration:

Work closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient care and medication therapy management, ensuring a multidisciplinary approach to reproductive health services.Regulatory Compliance:

Ensure all pharmacy practices align with federal, state, and local regulations, particularly those specific to reproductive health services, including ICA and PAB.Inventory Oversight:

Manage pharmacy inventory, including ordering, stocking, and maintaining records to ensure a consistent supply of necessary medications, particularly those used in abortion services.Quality Assurance:

Participate in ongoing quality assurance initiatives to maintain the highest standards of patient safety and care within pharmacy operations, with a focus on ICA and PAB services.Policy Development:

Contribute to the development and implementation of pharmacy policies and procedures that support the safe and effective delivery of ICA and PAB services at PPGNY.Qualifications:

PharmD or equivalent degree from an accredited pharmacy school.Valid New York State pharmacist license.Minimum of [X] years of experience in a clinical or community pharmacy setting, with a preference for experience in reproductive health or family planning services.Strong knowledge of New York State regulations related to pharmacy practice, particularly in the context of reproductive health and abortion services.Excellent communication skills, with the ability to provide compassionate and clear patient education.Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.Commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission of providing high-quality, nonjudgmental sexual and reproductive health care.
