POSITION SUMMARY

Signet is creating a best-in-class data & analytics team that to drive innovation in decision sciences bringing data, advanced analytics AI and ML together to fuel growth and help business leaders meet Signet’s strategic objectives. The Director of Data Science will lead a team of highly talented and innovative data scientists in support of developing cutting edge data and analytics products to support decision sciences across all retail functions and brands. We are looking for someone who is excited about re-imagining the jewelry buying experience and harnessing the collective power of data, advanced analytics, data science, AI/ML and digital technologies. This leader will be integral part to developing a culture of data led decision making, extensive use of AI and ML technologies and will serve as a data science evangelist in support of multiple strategic endeavors. As a major part of Signet’s future growth strategy this position will have high exposure to executives and business leaders and room to grow.MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Develop Value Driven, Actionable Insights – Will take a hands-on approach in the development of and supervision over analytical insight initiatives that are of greatest interest to the organization. This includes outlining project approaches, workplans, timelines, milestones and executive summaries. This individual will perform code reviews, provide cloud optimization techniques optimizing cost and performance, review EDA, feature engineering and overall data science best practices to ensure the outputs from the Data Science team meet best in class standards. The Director must have experience in Amazon’s cloud ecosystem including but not limited to SageMaker, S3, EMR, EC2 and will lead the transition of Signet to a cloud based Data Science environment. The Director of Data Science will take direct accountability for the end-to-end development of the highest priority topics at times presenting findings to C-Suite Executives.Innovation and AI/ML Product Development – Lead and inspire innovation of advanced data science, statistical model, AI and ML capabilities in support of industry changing Data and analytic products and services, revolutionizing decision science across all retail functions and brand teams. Stay abreast of industry trends and emerging data science capabilities and techniques keeping Signet on the cutting edge and creating strategic advantages for our brand teams. Maintain clear line of sight to Signet’s AI/ML assets and develop plans to regularly refresh/retrain, update or deprecate said assets.Team Development – Recruit, inspire, retain and lead a world class team of diverse data science professionals. Advise, coach, critique, challenge, celebrate and cheer on teammates while providing individualized mentorship to create the best environments for creative thought, innovation, solution development and personal growth.Data Science Evangelization and Community Support – Partner with other data and analytics leaders and serve as change agent to create a data and decision sciences culture throughout the organization. Consult, advise, create and develop solutions in partnership with functional and brand executives inspiring them to adopt use data science and AI/ML products and tools to make better decisions faster and with greater confidence and success. Find and create opportunities to enhance performance and inspire executive and business leaders to adopt data science as a way of doing business in this new time.POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education Required

BA/BS Bachelor's Degree is requiredMA/MS or PHD in Statistics, Mathematics, Data Science or MBA is preferredYears of Job-Related Experience Required

10+ years driving business value and improving customer experiences using data, advanced statistical and data science techniques to turn data in to meaningful and actionable insights. Omnichannel retail, merchandising and marketing analytics experience preferred10+ years developing analytics and data strategy, policies, processes, and toolsets that will enable automated reporting, insights generation and the full realization of data as a strategic asset in order to drive business value, insights, and growth10+ years of experience in Data Management & Analysis – demonstrated aptitude sourcing, aggregating and analyzing diverse data sets, fluency in data analysis tools, technology and methodologies5+ years of experience managing analytic and data science teams, on shore and off-shore management experience preferredTechnical/Other Skills Required

Excellent understanding of statistics and statistical methods including but not limited to experimental design and hypothesis testing, multi-variate regression, cluster analysis, decision trees, CHAID, ANOVA, forecasting, etc.Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Alteryx, and Tableau and advanced quantitative and statistical techniques. Data management and strategy.Demonstrated experience developing and deploying AI and ML models to drive value by improving decision making or customer experiences. Retail experience preferred.Excellent skills at data visualization and reporting – Demonstrated skills with Data, BI and Reporting software packages such as Alteryx, Business Objects, Tableau, Looker, Amazon QuickSight, Power BI, etc.Demonstrated experience and familiarity with most retail analytic techniques including but not limited to, customer segmentation, life-time value, attrition modeling, media mix analysis, multi-touch attribution, price optimization, sku level forecasting, test and learn concepts, markdown optimization, etc.Strong working knowledge of databases, data modeling and modern cloud-based data architecturesStrong working knowledge of data and analytic tools and programing languages including but not limited to SQL, Python, Map Reduce, SAS, R, SageMaker, S3, Git etc.Familiarity with ecommerce analytic tools such as Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics as well as other ecommerce personalization tools such as Adobe Test and Target, Dynamic Yield, Sales Force Experience Cloud, etc.Demonstrated ability create insights from data and to communicate actionable opportunities at an executive levelDemonstrated ability to effectively share technical information, communicate technical issues and solutions to all levels of businessStrong financial and analytical acumen to make strategic recommendationsDemonstrated strong project management skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities and can identify primary and secondary objectives, prioritize time and communicate to team members and clientsDemonstrated experience managing budgets, business planning and vendor managementBENEFITS & PERKS:
