Position Summary

The Vice President of Enterprise Risk Management is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the credit union’s risk management framework across multiple departments, including Risk & Compliance, Resolutions/Collections, and Information Security. This position ensures that the credit union operates within regulatory guidelines, mitigates risks effectively, and maintains robust security measures to protect the organization’s assets and member information.

Essential Functions Include:

Enterprise Risk Management : Develop and implement an integrated enterprise risk management (ERM) framework that aligns with the credit union’s strategic objectives. Identify, assess, and monitor risks across all areas of the credit union, including compliance, collections, and information security. Ensure the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans and monitor their effectiveness. Conduct regular risk assessments, audits, and reviews to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal policies. Report on risk exposures and provide recommendations to senior management and the board of directors.

Compliance : Oversee the compliance program to ensure adherence to federal and state regulations. Stay abreast of regulatory changes and ensure timely implementation of necessary adjustments. Develop, review, and update compliance policies and procedures. Conduct compliance training for staff and management to promote awareness and understanding of regulatory requirements. Liaise with regulatory agencies, NCUA, and manage examinations and audits.

Resolutions/Collections : Develop and implement strategies for effective resolution and collection of delinquent accounts. Oversee the collections team to ensure efficient recovery processes while maintaining member relationships. Monitor and analyze delinquency trends and provide reports to senior management. Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations and laws related to collections. Manage relationships with external collection agencies and legal counsel as needed.

Information Security : Develop and implement information security policies, standards, and procedures to protect the credit union’s information assets. Monitor and assess security risks and vulnerabilities, and implement appropriate mitigation measures. Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards for information security. Oversee incident response planning and execution to address security breaches and cyber threats. Conduct regular security audits, vulnerability assessments, and penetration testing. Provide security training and awareness programs for employees.

Leadership Management : Provide strategic direction and leadership to the compliance, collections, and information security teams. Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and ethical behavior. Collaborate with other senior leaders to align risk management initiatives with overall business objectives. Mentor and develop team members, promoting professional growth and performance excellence.

Required Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in finance, Business Administration, Information Security, Law, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.

Minimum of 10 years of experience in risk management, compliance, collections, and information security, preferably in the financial services industry.

In-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements and best practices related to enterprise risk management, compliance, and information security.

Professional certifications such as CRCM (Certified Regulatory Compliance Manager), CISSP (Certified Information Systems Security Professional), CISM (Certified Information Security Manager), or equivalent are a plus.

Director of BSA/Fraud, Director of Risk & Compliance, Resolutions/Collections Manager

Work Environment:

This job operates in an office setting and routinely uses standard office equipment. This position is Hybrid requiring 1-2 days per week in the office.

Physical Requirements:

Sitting frequently, walking occasionally, use of hands frequently, hearing constantly, talking frequently, exerting up to 10lbs of force occasionally to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects.
