Compensation Analyst

Gaithersburg, MDYour Tasks:This role is responsible for providing compensation services to line Human Resources staff and line managers in all aspects of compensation analysis, program design, development, implementation and administration to drive attraction, retention and engagement of talent. A deep understanding of compensation practices, policies and processes is required.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Support compensation programs, including base pay administration, market pricing, benchmark analysis, evaluation of salary grades/ranges, position reclassifications, and other compensation related actions.Conduct analyses and studies to support management in developing and administering effective compensation programs.Provide recommendations for base compensation for new hires, promotions, transfers, salary adjustments, and other compensation actions utilizing best practices and compensation methodology.Complete annual compensation surveys to obtain external market data and coordinate with survey firms in response to follow-up inquiries.Bring an analytical approach to problem solving and ground your solutions in data.Benchmark jobs against survey data and other market intelligence to determine competitive compensation ranges for each position as well as FLSA classifications.Support year end compensation planning processes.Identify and recommend competitive solutions to compensation issues, while educating HR Business Partners on compensation philosophy and practice.Partner with external consultant for annual review of job architecture and salary structures.Maintain compliance by understanding and implementing state and federal wage requirements, such as minimum wage increases.Requirements:Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration or finance; 4 - 6 years of previous experience in compensation; or a combination of education and experience.Highly organized and great at multi-tasking; ability to work in a high-volume environment and get things done with accuracy and efficiency in a timely manner.Ability to work well independently but also enjoy working with a highly collaborative team.Proficiency with Microsoft office suite with strong to expert-level Excel skills.Experience utilizing UKG or similar HRIS.Professional and clear written and verbal communication skills.Knowledge of compensation practices and trends, and desire to advance in the field.Strong analytical and project management skills.Strong attention to detail.Ability to successfully manage multiple projects.Able to manage difficult conversations in a diplomatic way.Physical Demands:The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
