What is the Boys & Girls Club?
As “The Positive Place For Kids” we provide guidance-oriented character development programs for children 6 to 17 years old conducted by a full-time professional staff. The Boys & Girls Club of Evansville nurtures young people’s self-esteem by instilling in them a sense of belonging, usefulness, influence and competence. Our Clubs do this daily by providing young people with well-rounded programming. Core programs at the Club engage young people annually in activities with adults, peers and family members that enable them to develop self-esteem and to reach their full potential.
TITLE:
Social Emotional Learning / Mental Health Director
DEPARTMENT:
Youth Development
PRIMARY FUNCTION:
Oversees the development, direction and maintenance of a sound and effective health and wellness education program which responds to the needs of the membership. Directs and manages overall daily operations of health and wellness programming. Supervision and training of staff (direct and indirect reports), management of related grants, community relations, volunteers.
This position primarily works Monday through Friday, during the school year the hours will be 11:30am - 7:30pm.
KEY ROLES (Essential Job Responsibilities):
Leadership
To ensure the integrity of the Club’s Mission and its policies as determined by the Board of Directors and communicated through your supervisor.
To promote and maintain an effective guidance program through an environment conducive to socially acceptable standards of behavior and growth for all individual members.
Recruit and manage YDP staff and volunteers.
Conduct staff meetings on regular basis as compliant with needs of training.
To provide and maintain an effective staff supervision, training, performance review and documentation process.
To maintain the timely execution of administrative and management requirements specific to this core service area(s).
Resource Management
To furnish on request budgeting needs and information for this specific core service area(s).
To comply with periodic reporting of essential and requested statistical, evaluative and other forms of information.
Partnership Development
Develop partnerships with parents, community leaders and organizations.
Marketing and Public Relations
Develop and maintain public relations to increase the visibility of programs, services and activities within the Club and the community.
ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
To plan, initiate and coordinate, supervise and evaluate health and wellness education programs based on the developmental needs of the youth.
Work with staff on special events to carry out programs in all departments.
Exercise authority in problems relating to members; utilize guidance and discipline plan.
Assist other Boys & Girls Club staff members, as may be requested from time to time, in meeting the overall needs of the organization.
Assume other duties as assigned.
To assist in maintaining a clean, safe and healthy environment.
SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:
Attended an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience.
A minimum of two years work experience in a Boys & Girls Club or similar organization planning and supervising activities based on the developmental needs of young people, or equivalent experience.
Strong communication skills, both oral and written.
Ability to recruit, train, supervise, and motivate staff.
Ability to deal effectively with members including discipline problems.
Demonstrated ability in working with young people, parents and community leaders.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $35,000.00 - $40,000.00 per year
