SUMMARY:

The Director of Nursing provides clinical leadership for Hospice Savannah including the execution of our vision as well as our strategic plan that shapes the direction of clinical practices and professions at Hospice Savannah, Inc. This position acts as an expert and advocate for high quality, safe and exceptional customer service in patient care with a demonstrated knowledge of evidence-based practices and commitment to continuous improvement and innovation. Responsible for the supervision of managers and directors within clinical departments (HIPU, AH, HC, Admissions, Patient & Family Services, Education, and Quality and Compliance). The DON consistently demonstrates Hospice Savannah's values and service excellence standards.

The DON works closely with the leadership and management teams and will be responsible for all program planning, organizing, operating, and staffing in departments/services areas they supervise. Is responsible for assisting in developing, implementing, and managing the departments budget in conjunction with the Vice President of Clinical Services, Finance and CEO. Responsible for ensuring that all services are in compliance with all federal, state, and funding regulations, certifications, and licensing requirements.

The DON will be prepared to assume the duties and responsibilities of the VP Clinical Services when the VP Clinical Services is absent or unavailable.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Solid educational background including a bachelor's degree in nursing or related field preferred. Master's degree in nursing preferred. Minimum of 3 years of senior level management experience and at least 3 years of Hospice experience required. Proven track record of successful clinical and business management of health service organizations required along with experience supervising seasoned staff operating multiple programs across an organization. Excellent customer service skills. Computer proficient healthcare management software and a deep understanding of Hospice regulatory standards. Valid driver's license and automobile insurance required. Certification in Hospice and Palliative Care preferred. Current, unencumbered Georgia RN License.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Position requires moderate visual concentration. While in patient care areas, there is a risk of exposure to infectious diseases requiring standard safety precautions. This position requires the ability to lift up to 50 lbs. utilizing proper body mechanics and the mobility to drive, lift, bend or stoop either assisted or unassisted by devices.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

This position works a general schedule 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday with frequent requests to work additional days/hours as needed for the successful completion of assigned tasks. The role will involve both office and fieldwork, attending offsite meetings and educational opportunities, and may include site visits. On-call responsibilities may be required for clinical/administrative matters. This position requires a moderate amount of driving utilizing the employee's personal vehicle. As Director of Nursing, they are required to participate in the Clinical on-call rotation.
