Responsible for the department’s quality improvement program and participates in performance improvement activities, evaluation and planning of departmental/unit activities, orientation program in respective units, and all patient related clinical activities in area of jurisdiction at all times. Assures compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws and statutes pertaining to the operation of the department.Essential Functions and Responsibilities:Uses independent judgment to exercise authority on behalf of the Medical Center, or effectively recommend such action in the following areas:May request, interview, and make hiring decisions in regard to personnel for this areaMay discipline subordinates according to Medical Center procedureResponsible for assigning work to employees and directing the workflow in area of jurisdictionAttempts to resolve customer complaints/concerns (internal & external)Conducts annual performance appraisal interviews with subordinatesMay, with Administrative approval, recommend and grant employee advancements/wage increasesResponsible for the department’s quality improvement program and participates in performance improvement activitiesResponsible for the evaluation and planning of departmental/unit activitiesResponsible for all patient related clinical activities in area of jurisdiction at all timesOversees the achievement of the standards of Nursing practice commensurate with the Nursing Code of Ethics and Michigan Public Health CodeResponsible for the orientation program in respective unitsAssists with continuing education of employees in area, while maintaining own professional competenceAssures there are on-going continuing education programs in place to maintain staff competencyAssures compliance with all regulatory and other agency requirements, laws and statutes pertaining to the operation of the departmentEvaluates and purchases departmental equipment and suppliesQualifications:Required:Must possess current Michigan RN licenseMinimum 2 years clinical experience in an acute care hospitalMinimum 2 years management experienceMaster’s Degree in Nursing or health related field required, or to be completed within 2 years of hire/transferEqual Opportunity Employer of Minorities/Females/Disabled/VeteransWe are committed to encouraging and sustaining a work environment free of unlawful harassment, discrimination, and/or retaliation.
