Job Summary:
The Sanitation Manager is responsible for the cleanliness of the production area, processing equipment, and other facilities (including office and common areas, drains, waste areas, parking lots, and utility buildings). As the site expert, the Sanitation Manager oversees the day-to-day activities of a sanitation/custodial crew and works with the operations team to ensure that all sanitation conforms to appropriate regulations and company policies and procedures to ensure the safety and quality of the food produced. Documentation, training, consumables inventory, and inspections are recurring parts of the job. The Sanitation Manager will continuously review, develop, refine, and implement sanitation standards and programs ensuring there is alignment between all GoGo Squeez sites.
Job Responsibilities & Tasks:
Develop, implement, and execute MSS program.
Direct and participate in the cleaning and sanitation activities.
Ensure proper sanitation methods and practices are utilized to comply with regulatory, certification, and company standards including GMPs, SDS, HACCP, SQF, and SSOPs.
Own the sanitation validation program.
Oversee employees conducting cleaning activities.
Organize labor from operations team and sanitation team to ensure completion of weekly cleaning activities and MSS.
Train, orient, supervise, coach, and evaluate sanitation and other plant personnel on cleaning SSOPs, CIP, GMPs, chemical use, sanitary procedures, and other related company policies and procedures.
Manage the sanitation/custodial crew, including subcontractors.
Monitor and enforce employee safety practices, including lockout/tagout, safe use and handling of chemicals and proper PPE use.
Ensure proper handling, storage, and use of chemicals.
Establish, enhance, and execute cleaning and sanitation procedures for CIP/COP equipment; maintain, follow, and update the master cleaning schedule, sanitation programs, and work instructions.
Develop and give guidance for our environmental monitoring program.
Validate equipment/lines, ensuring SSOPs and cleaning checklists are valid and current.
Ensure all CIP/cleaning records are filled out completely and accurately, including corrective actions and follow-up.
Propose and implement required sanitation standards and programs.
Develop and manage sanitation budget.
Create annual sanitation budget, properly utilize resources, and develop cost-saving ideas.
Ensure all new equipment meets our sanitary design standards and develop and execute the validation requirements for CIP and cleaning if applicable.
Ensure all sanitation procedures are created for new equipment and building expansions ensuring our MSS is updated appropriately.
Work with outside vendors (chemical, pest control, janitorial supply) to ensure all company requirements are met.
Participate in in-house and third-party inspections.
Develop and implement equipment tear down schedule.
Lead projects related to sanitation improvements and other responsibilities as assigned.
Oversee pest control program.
Interact with outside vendor to manage pest control program for the facility, including reviewing reports and documenting/implementing corrective actions.
Propose and implement improvements for our current CIP capabilities to help optimize the sanitation process.
All other duties as assigned.

Position Requirements:
EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Hygiene, Chemistry or related field is preferred; however, work experience in the industrial hygiene/food plant sanitation in lieu of a Bachelor’s Degree may be considered.
EXPERIENCE:
7-10 years of sanitation experience.
3-5 years of sanitation supervisory experience in a food manufacturing environment.
SKILLS:
Strong working knowledge and understanding of CIP (Clean In Place), COP (Clean Out of Place) and manual cleaning sanitation procedures in a food manufacturing environment is preferred.
Must have experience managing a site pest control program.
Must have proven ability to setup and validate CIP processes and sanitary design.
Must have proven ability to build an MSS program and establish new sanitation standards.
Must have certifications and coursework within food science, CIP, and sanitary design.
Ability to work independently and maintain a high standard of performance.
Ability to lead a team and inspire a positive culture.
Must have strong knowledge of HACCP, safe chemical use and handling, lockout/tagout, SDS, MDARD, FDA, SQF, OSHA requirements and experience working with 3rd party auditors.
Basic math skills; basic computer skills with Microsoft Excel and Word.
Must be able to understand both written and verbal instructions in English.
Must be able to work a schedule that includes Saturdays and Sundays with flexible hours to oversee sanitation activities.
PHYSICAL & TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
Must be able to lift up to 40 lbs.
Must be able to work 8 – 12 hours per day and be on his/her feet for extended periods of time.
Must have the ability to move about on wet/slippery floors, full range of motion to position self to properly complete all tasks (may involve turning all or parts of body, bending, stretching, etc.).
Must be able to wear appropriate personal protective equipment, including safety shoes and hearing protection.
