Apply HereThe purpose of this position is to provide leadership for the development and implementation of district-wide, high quality assessment, curriculum and instruction of Mathematics (6-12), Science (6-12), and Physical and Health Education (EC-12) programming. To ensure a visible presence and rigorous learning opportunities that support student engagement in Science, Technology, Engineering and Math (STEM) experiences. Promote a culture of continuous improvement that advances practices leading to the highest quality instruction and learning, supporting all students to be prepared in their futures. To help build a positive school community that values and promotes culturally responsive and inclusive education practices.Responsibilities:

Provides leadership and direction to 6-12 Curriculum Support Specialists for Math and Science.Provides leadership with the implementation of assessment, curriculum and instructional changes including assisting teaching staff in coordinating new assessment components accompanying new curriculum and instructional materials adoptions.Provides a vision for the development and refinement of high-quality standards, curriculum and assessments. Develops procedures or methods for development of District standard based assessments and analysis of district and state assessment data in the areas of mathematics, science, physical education and health and works with staff to improve student performance through program and instructional improvement efforts.Evaluation of staff as assigned and as secondary supervisor for applicable positions (i.e. CSS, Coaches, Interventionists, etc.)Coordinates and supervises task force work groups and/or leadership teams.Works in collaboration with administration to develop new job descriptions or update job descriptions in content areas.Serves as an interview team member upon request.Assists with coordination of interviews when hiring multiple positions across sites within a department.Coordinates department district-wide re-configuration and/or travel reductions.Supervises the Health & Human Performance (elementary) Program Leader.Reports student performance results to the broader school community.Coordinates program evaluations.Serves as a resource person in the areas of expertise.Disseminates information about model programs and supports sites in becoming model programs.Quality Assessment, Curriculum and Instruction:

Coordinates Capacity Building activities in collaboration with the Teaching and Learning Department.Visits schools and classrooms and facilitates staff and departmental meetings to support high-quality instructional programs at all levels.Facilitates the sharing of innovation, ideas, and expertise.Works with Program Leader, Curriculum Support Specialists and teachers on data collection, data analysis, instructional planning, techniques and problem solving.Identifies, develops and coordinates professional development opportunities as it relates to assessment development, analysis, curricular needs, and instructional best practices.Works closely with schools, leadership and project teams to meet professional development needs.Actively develops, facilitates and engages in and with site and district continuous school improvement efforts and activities (i.e. Lead Learner sessions, EC-6 or 7-12 Capacity Building, CSIP and Administrative Retreats, site staff development, and District Professional Development).STEM and Human Health and Performance Programming:

Drives continual improvement of STEM and Human Health and Performance programming and removes barriers to accessibility of advanced courses and college credit bearing courses.Provides leadership in developing program coordination within schools across the district for Secondary STEM and EC-12 Human Health and Performance.Engaged with site CSIP process and District planning.Serves as liaison person for assessment, curriculum and instruction related needs supporting continuous school improvement.Monitors and facilitates curriculum updates and scope and sequencing.Assist with the preparation and management of budgets for designated programs and projects.Develops project proposals, oversees grant writing within the assigned content areas, and develops partnerships to ensure alignment of continuous improvement efforts.Engages in EC-12 Teaching and Learning Department collaboration.Manages and leads District wide initiatives as assigned.Other related tasks as assigned.Minimum Qualifications:

DPI license: Secondary Mathematics (preferred) or Science Educator and Director of Instruction.Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge and experience with secondary mathematics, and/or science educational best practices.
