. GenStar currently offers an excellent opportunity to begin your underwriting career in the ever-changing E&S market as an Underwriter Associate, based in our Chicago office. This is a hybrid role with training to start in summer 2025.Role DescriptionThe Underwriter Associate will join our industry-recognized training program, learning how to navigate a wide array of underwriting and marketing functions, gaining knowledge and competence in both client relationship management and technical underwriting skills. With the support of their team, manager, and mentor, the Underwriter Associate will develop key underwriting skills including using both proprietary tools and external resources to analyze, evaluate, and set terms and pricing for complex exposures. The Underwriter Associate will also network corporately, learning to leverage the company’s substantial resources to provide a best-in-class response to our valued clients.Through both classroom and on-the-job experiences, our Associates progress toward the Underwriter role with opportunities to work on live accounts, develop their own client relationships, and advance their understanding of the insurance industry overall and how GenStar continues to work toward meeting the evolving needs of the E&S marketplace.
