Scientific Programmer

GAMA-1 Technologies, LLC seeks a remote highly experienced Scientific Programmer specializing in migrating scientific applications to a cloud environment. The candidate will support GAMA-1's growing Cloud Services practice, particularly in driving efforts to support the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration's (NOAA) Cloud and National Environmental Satellite, Data, and Information Service (NESDIS) initiatives. These strategic cloud initiatives aim to increase IT efficiency, improve delivery, and reduce costs.Supervisory Responsibilities:Non-Supervisory RoleDuties/Responsibilities:Develop automation code for CI/CD tools such as GitLab RunnerUse Python to develop programs and Docker containers and Kubernetes using CI/CD pipelinesCoordinate with users on Jira and Confluence project setup and customizationWork closely with cloud architects, developers, and engineers to ensure seamless deployment and integration of Kubernetes-based applicationsCreate and maintain robust documentation to facilitate knowledge sharing and collaborationProactively troubleshoot and resolve issues occurring along the CI/CD pipeline to maintain smoother operationsResearch, design, deploy, provision, and document new technologies implemented within the environmentImplement modern ground systems and applications and underlying technology stacksParticipate with Information Security partners and implement cybersecurity updates to the systemRequired Skills/Abilities:BS/BA in Computer Science, a Technical Field, or other related disciplines4-6 years’ experience migrating scientific applications from on-premise systems to a Cloud environmentDemonstrated experience programming in Python and experience with Docker containers and Kubernetes using CI/CD pipelinesDemonstrated experience working in an agile/scrum teamExperience building and leveraging GitLab runnersExperience with code-defined Infrastructure, configuration management tools, and CI/CDExperience working with Cloud Service Providers, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, and Google Cloud PlatformsExperience and understanding of large-scale infrastructure deployments in enterprise-wide environments leveraging DevOps principles and utilizing a CI/CD pipelineExcellent written, verbal, and analytical skillsAbility to obtain a Public Trust ClearanceDesired Skills:Federal government experience2+ years’ experience with Atlassian Suite (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket)ABOUT GAMA-1GAMA-1 is a rapidly growing technology business based in Greenbelt, Maryland.
