Together, our values ensure that we work together as one global team with our customers at the center of everything we do.Job Description Summary:As a software engineer on the Credit Platform team, you will help build and enhance a suite of tools that allow our US and international Credit customers to apply for and use credit. You will be delivering new features, reacting to customer feedback, helping to ensure quality, working closely with our product team, and ensuring compliance. This will include developing new features, enhancements, and bug fixes for our Java REST services, JMS daemons, and batch jobs.Job ResponsibilitiesDesign, develop, test, and release software using Java in a Linux/Unix environment.Work on multiple product features without guidance. Propose technical solutions for new and revised features based on an emerging understanding of the product and business domain.Manage individual project timelines, priorities, and delivery.Actively participate in design and code reviews.Train staff new to the team.Job RequirementsBachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience.3 years of software development experience with an object-oriented programming language comparable to Java, C++, Python, C#, or Ruby.Knowledge of data structures, object-oriented design, algorithms, exception handling, and troubleshooting.Experience working with large-scale, highly available, and distributed systems.Experience developing automated unit, integration, and functional test suites.Experience writing SQL and implementing database design.A habit of continuous learning and motivation for self-improvement.Additional Potential QualificationsGood Java skills with knowledge of JVM fundamentals and Java best practices.Experience with common Java APIs and frameworks including Spring, Hibernate, JPA, and JMS.Experience with RESTful web services and SOA/microservices concepts, and RESTful API design.Experience with the Maven build tool.Understanding of Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery concepts and build tools.Knowledge or experience with containers, cloud infrastructure, and DevOps patterns.Familiarity with Linux commands and scripting.For the majority of employees, PayPal's balanced hybrid work model offers 3 days in the office for effective in-person collaboration and 2 days at your choice of either the PayPal office or your home workspace.Our Benefits:At PayPal, we’re committed to building an equitable and inclusive global economy.
