POSITION
GreenLight Biosciences is seeking an exceptional candidate to join our Discovery Biology team as Insectary Lead. The Insectary Lead will be responsible for driving efficient and high-quality insect rearing, cross-functional communication, scientific contribution, and specialized colony protocol development.
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES
Collaborate and communicate effectively regarding stakeholder needs to meet project milestones.
Work collaboratively to establish rearing protocols for new arthropod species of interest.
Establish Quality Control measures and systems for insect colonies.
Contribute significantly to scientific discussions, serving as the expert on insect rearing.
Onboard field-collected species including quarantine and regulated organism procedures.
Assist Insectary Associate with colony maintenance.
Ensure safe laboratory operations and a safety-focused work culture.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum 8 years of experience working with insects; 3 of those years leading an industrial insectary.
Experience developing and optimizing rearing protocols for varied arthropod species in an industrial setting.
Demonstrated agility as it pertains to change, delays, or unexpected events and be comfortable with a fast-paced, challenging environment.
Demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities, deliver on time and within budget.
Must have outstanding attention to detail and organizational skills.
Must be a team player and have experience working in highly collaborative teams to meet project goals.
Must be comfortable working independently and cooperatively.
Must have demonstrated effective communication to establish productive relationships with stakeholders.
Must have excellent execution and follow-through skills.
EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree in entomology, biology, or related field.
