you will report to the head of tax planning, and provide critical insight and support to the US and cross-border planning of the company, including:Supporting the development and implementation of planning strategies to reduce tax expense and cash taxes, reduce/eliminate tax exposures, minimize audit deficiencies, and maintain a competitive effective tax rate.Preparation of documentation of planned and implemented transactions including tax research and tax modelingManaging and assisting with evaluating the international tax consequences of business projects, operating strategies, and cash managementWorking closely with the broader tax organization to ensure cohesive planning and complianceDeveloping and maintaining relationships across the finance, supply chain, and the business groups to ensure timely collaboration on cross functional projects with tax impactsAssisting with tax controversy by providing requested information to support and defend 3M’s tax positionsYour Skills and ExpertiseTo set you up for success in this role from day one, 3M requires (at a minimum) the following qualifications:Bachelor’s degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) with a major in accounting, finance or tax from an accredited institution, or, JD with LLM in taxationNine (9) years of tax experience that includes accounting firm practice, industry practice, national tax practice or a combination thereofExperience with multinational corporation legal entity structures and related tax considerations for choice of structureSignificant U.S. tax technical and practical experience including GILTI, Subpart F, FDII, Foreign Tax Credits, and Reorganizations. Pillar 2 experience is a plus.Experience with foreign tax issues in common holding and operating jurisdictions for multinational companiesDemonstrated critical thinking capabilities to identify and support resolution of tax issues and cross-functional impacts of such issues in a broad range of projects, including internal and external cross-border and domestic reorganizations and changes in business circumstanceExperience researching/analyzing/working through complex foreign, federal, state, and local tax issuesExcellent written and verbal presentation skills coupled with strong interpersonal and team-building capabilities across different functional areas and cultures. This includes experience with documenting transaction steps and technical tax analysis in memorandums and other media (PowerPoint presentations, Excel files, etc).Demonstrated ability to manage tax projects, including effective collaboration with other tax and non-tax stakeholdersStrong desire to collaborate across both the tax function and broader organizationWork location:

This range represents a good faith estimate for this position. The specific compensation offered to a candidate may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s relevant knowledge, training, skills, work location, and/or experience.
