Job SummaryWe have an opportunity for a Lead Analytical Scientist on the Polymer Characterization team located at Larkin Lab in Midland, MI. The Polymer Characterization team is part of the Pharma Solutions business unit of International Flavors and Fragrances (IFF).

The Polymer Characterization team provides analytical technical expertise, ensures compliance with regulations, and improves analytical system performance and reliability. We are looking for a Leader with an Analytical chemistry background, who can lead the local team of Analytical Chemists as well as focus on the regulatory testing and method validation needs of the Pharma Solutions products.

The Polymer Characterization labs use a variety of analytical techniques such as wet chemical analysis, viscosity, HPLC, IC, GC, GPC, FTIR and XRF, so general analytical knowledge and/or expertise in one of these fields is required.

Job Requirements

Lead the local Polymer Characterization team.

Lead the development, validation, qualification, and documentation of analytical methods.

Understand the regulatory testing requirements for the Pharma Solutions product portfolio and ensure that production QC labs are meeting them.

Provide technical expertise and guidance in relation to complex analytical testing and troubleshooting.

Drive global technology transfer and compliance of analytical methodology to external regulations.

Interface with R&D, TS&D, and Quality organizations to help ensure product specifications are consistent with analytical and production capability.

Proven people and project leadership experience.

PhD in Analytical Chemistry (or a related field) with 5-10 years’ experience in analytical chemistry is required.

Demonstrated knowledge of analytical techniques, capabilities, and statistics are required.

Excellent documentation (written), oral communication, and interpersonal skills.

Ability to solve problems and multi-task in a fast-paced rapidly changing environment.

Preferred experience in the pharmaceutical industry.
