Job Overview:

Tier III operations and maintenance (O&M) engineers to support the customer's various WAN and LAN networks, in providing network upgrades and config support to the architecture team; act as subject matter expert in WAN and LAN technologies and vendors; support customer's intra- and inter- net and other data communications systems or segments of networked system; and by Providing tiered support for the network operations centers (NOC).

Job Duties and Responsibilities:May supervise other network support and client server specialists and plan, coordinate, and implement network security measuresParticipate in evaluation of new network technologies and make recommendations to network architecture team regarding the integration of these technologies into the existing network.Diagnose hardware and software problems, and replace defective componentsSupport operations and maintain activities and administer networks including hardware, systems software, applications software, and all configurationsMonitor the performance of systems and networksSupport routine network startup and shutdown procedures and maintain control recordsConfigure, and test hardware, networking software and operating system softwarePrepare technical proposals for presentation to the engineering review boards for adding new technologies to the networkPerform a full range of upgrades in accordance with existing network architectureReview user requests for upgrades or additions to the network to assess impact on network performance and provide advice and guidance on the most practical technical approach to meeting user requirementsPerform long term O&M activities to include tier 3 troubleshooting and problem resolutionUtilize complex network analysis tools to identify and correct problems in the network while maintaining logs and records associated with reported problems or situationsPrepare troubleshooting procedures for restoring the network to optimal performance levelsProvide fault management for the network and supports performance management functionsRespond, isolate, and resolve network troubles. Monitor alarms and alerts to identify network elements causing network degradation or failureExecute reporting functions and data input associated with network managementMonitor security posture of the network, report suspected violations to designated authorityCoordinate with configuration management and implementation teamsPerform operator-level maintenance on components for network management systemsAnalyze network characteristics (e.g., traffic, connect time, transmission speeds, packet sizes, and throughput); recommend procurement, removals, and modifications to network componentsOptimize network topologies and site configurations. Requirements:TS/SCI with Polygraph10 years of relevant network engineering experience that can be a combination of work history and educationDemonstrated experience working in the areas listed in job dutiesLayer 1 and Layer 2 network experienceNetwork configuration and troubleshooting experienceKnowledge of Cisco IOS, Juniper JUNOS, Brocade and Foundry OSFamiliar with Layer 3 protocols such as OSPF, BGP, VRRP, HSRP, MPLS, LSP, GRE.Familiar with Visio and Service NowMust meet Information Assurance Technical (IAT) Level 2 certification requirements

Physical Requirements:Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computerMust be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times
