Clinical Psychologist in Trauma/Weight Band 8a within a Tier 3 Specialist Weight Management Service. Part-time hours would be considered with a minimum of 22.5 hours a week. For the right candidate, a band 7-8a progression post would also be considered.Do you love groups and like to innovate? This is an exciting opportunity to lead on developing and expanding our psychology group offer to address a variety of trauma-based eating behaviours, provide trauma-informed 1:1 interventions for patients where groups cannot be considered or would not be the first line intervention and with opportunities to work jointly with dietetic colleagues, assessing and treating complex referrals. We also work with patients wishing to be considered for bariatric surgery, contributing to decisions regarding suitability and providing pre-operative support and intervention.We often work with individuals with complex physical, psychological and social care needs who face multiple health inequalities. Alongside our core offer, we are considering innovative, pragmatic ways to develop cross-ICS pilot projects to improve weight, health and well-being outcomes in people currently not well served by the national Tier 3 offers (e.g., people living with weight and intellectual disability, severe and enduring mental health conditions).We are also developing our new weight loss medications pathway and piloting a new Triage Team to support improving referral quality and optimization pre-treatment.Main Duties of the Job

Priorities can change, but duties are most likely to include:Assessment, treatment and formulation of cases of the highest complexity, both non-surgical and pre-weight loss surgery.Leading on the design, development, delivery and evaluation of the expanding psychology group offer within SWMS.Individual psychology treatment, using a range of therapeutic models, managing therapeutic relationships when contributing to assessment of suitability for surgery and delivering news people do not wish to hear.Supervision of band 7 psychologists and CAP.Opportunities to lead/project manage appropriate aspects of the service/psychology service as they arise.Contributing to consultancy with commissioners or local healthcare community when requested.Contributing to service development, audit and evaluation as required.Teaching and training on psychological aspects of weight as required.About Us

Our friendly, hard-working team shares a desire to provide compassionate interventions and the best possible care to a highly stigmatized patient group. We are currently made up of Psychologists, Dietitians, Clinical Nurse Specialists, and Consultant Obesity Physicians. Based in an acute hospital setting, we also have close links to the Bariatric Surgery Service and are housed within the same building as the large Clinical Health Psychology Department, with good opportunities for peer support and team working. Contributing to triage and vetting of referrals.Assessment, treatment and formulation of cases of the highest complexity, both non-surgical and pre-surgery.Group and individual treatment using a range of therapeutic models, including managing therapeutic relationships when contributing to assessment of suitability for surgery and delivering news people do not wish to hear.Formal supervision of band 7 psychologists and CAP, and ad hoc peer supervision of colleagues when required, including supporting them to assess or manage complex cases.Leading on the design, development and delivery of the expanding psychology group offer within SWMS. Supporting and training other staff to co-facilitate.Attendance at Triage, SWMS, Medical and Bariatric MDT meetings as required.Audit and evaluation.Consultancy, teaching and training.Hybrid working - some WFH, some office-based.Additional Contact Information:

Skills and Experience

Qualified Clinical Psychologist.HCPC registered.Experience of assessing and treating complex trauma and severe and enduring mental health conditions.Experience of leading groups for people with complex physical or mental health.Experience of working in physical health, weight management or related areas.Experience of working with ACT, CFT or DBT.Supervisory experience.Disclosure and Barring Service Check
