Job Description We have an opening for a Senior Security and System Software Developer on a team that researches, designs, develops, maintains, and integrates software and hardware solutions for protecting LLNL computing services and systems within the Livermore Computing high-performance computing center. In this role, you will apply software development experience and security knowledge towards the support of authentication, authorization, security information and event management, web application security, and identity management technologies utilized to maintain secure operating environments for Livermore Computing resources and critical institutional services at LLNL. This position is in the Livermore Computing Division within the Computing Principal Associate Directorate.This position requires an on-site presence, and therefore will have limited telecommuting options.You willGuide effort to develop tools or processes for automating deployment, testing, or monitoring procedures that improve the efficiency and operations of the centralized security services.Provide security consulting and perform security review and evaluation of proposed system designs, applications and commercial products.Provide technical leadership and guide efforts to develop tools or processes for improving the efficiency and operations of users and staff. Effectively perform duties using independent judgment and minimal direction.Design, implement, and maintain software systems that enable secure access and protection against threats and attacks using security best practices.Configure and manage deployed services associated with the centralized authentication and authorization services.Integrate custom software, such as authentication modules and authorization mechanisms, into open-source software packages or commercial products to enhance or extend the security controls and capabilities of our multi-site collaborative environment.Monitor production services and respond to system problems and user issues.Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field or the equivalent combination of education and related experience.Advanced proficiency developing software in a team environment with two or more of the following programming languages: C, C++, Java, Perl, or Python.Advanced knowledge of fundamental networking and experience with network troubleshooting in a Linux environment.Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills to contribute to creative solutions to complex problems in cross-organizational efforts.Significant experience providing innovative approaches and applying new technologies to broadly defined tasks and projects.Advanced verbal and written communication skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment and present and explain technical information and provide advice to management.Ability to work on a 24x7 on-call rotational schedule.Qualifications We DesireMaster's degree in computer science or related field.Experience implementing solutions using one or more of the following data networking and security technologies: RSA SecurID, SSH, Kerberos, RADIUS, OAuth/OIDC.Experience administrating F5 - BIG IP web application firewalls.Experience with data management languages and protocols such as LDAP and SQL.Knowledge of security vulnerability analysis techniques and practices.
