Position SummaryAs a

Senior Software Engineer

within the Sam's Membership Team, you will be responsible for building highly performant distributed systems that will support our future growth. Membership business is growing rapidly, and you will be part of the journey that provides omni-channel support for millions of Sam's Club members as well contribute to operational efficiencies for our business team members.

What you'll do:

Leads and collaborates on Engineering projects; identifies short- and long-term solutions and timeline; reviews and implements proposed solutions; implements new architectural patterns; performs design and code reviews.

Troubleshoots business and production issues; reviews and analyzes information; engages support teams; formulates action plan; performs root cause analysis; completes online documentation.

Leads discovery phase of medium to large projects; partners with various teams; obtains cross-function approvals; drives proof-of-concept; implements prototypes.

Develops Innovation strategies, processes, and best practices; leads internal technical teams; partners with cross-functional teams; communicates with decision-makers; resolves technology differences.

Leads and participates in complex projects; reviews project requirements; translates requirements into technical solutions; writes and develops code; conducts unit testing; collaborates with teams; troubleshoots issues; ensures on-time delivery.

Supports business objectives; collaborates with business partners; identifies and addresses opportunities; leads cross-functional partnership.

Utilizes industry research to improve technology environment; analyzes industry best practices; benchmarks industry against internal processes; defines software development standards.

Drives execution of business plans and projects; identifies customer and operational needs; develops and communicates plans and priorities; removes barriers; measures progress and adjusts performance.

Ensures business needs are being met; evaluates effectiveness of current plans and initiatives; solicits and applies suggestions for improving efficiency; participates in community outreach events.

What you'll bring:

5+ years of extensive software development experience building distributed systems and Micro-Services.

Expert level knowledge and understanding of Java Technologies, SQL/NOSQL Databases, Container Technologies.

Ability to build products with a focus on automation.

A disciplined approach to development, code review, testing, documentation, and code structure in a team environment.

A constant desire to improve, learn more and take things to the next level and a passion for adopting the latest features in Kubernetes, Java, and Spring Boot.

Effectively translating requirements into project parameters while working with agility.

Helping cross-functional teams to solve business problems and develop solutions that enable us to redefine a "best-in-class" customer experience.

Minimum QualificationsOutlined below are the required minimum qualifications for this position:

Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Option 2: 5 years' experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred QualificationsOutlined below are the optional preferred qualifications for this position:

Master's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.

Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
