The department works to advance sustainability in campus operations for energy, water, waste, resiliency, and safety, optimizing and prioritizing efficiency in all aspects of campus life–from resource and utility management to transportation and community behavior. SUI develops strategic, long-term goals that help reduce Stanford's environmental impact, supporting the university’s commitment to be an environmental steward. This role sits with the Office of Sustainability, a group within SUI.The Office of Sustainability (OOS) seeks a 2-year Fixed Term Sustainability Coordinator to join a diverse team of dedicated professionals and technical staff working to advance Stanford’s sustainability goals. The ideal candidate will have excellent collaboration and organizational skills, and proactively work to support the success of staff events, projects, and programs.What you will do in this role:Characteristic Duties:(50%) Sustainability Student Ambassador Program Managemento Convene and collaborate with key program partners, including the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability, and additional stakeholders to develop and align on the new and ongoing program design, goals, and strategy.o Recruit, interview, select, onboard and manage approximately 20-30 student sustainability ambassadors per academic year, working approximately 5 hours per week.o Develop and maintain onboarding and training materials for ambassadors in collaboration with program partners, particularly the Stanford Doerr School of Sustainability.o Lead onboarding at the start of each programmatic year.o Guide and mentor ambassadors in effective outreach strategies that increase engagement in sustainability-related opportunities.o Manage and mentor ambassadors through regular meetings and feedback; ensure ambassadors disseminate the latest sustainability-related information and opportunities effectively.o Create, collect and analyze metrics on program impact and effectiveness.o Convene quarterly meetings with program stakeholders to report progress and adjust program design.o Develop annual progress reports and report on key performance indicators.(50%) Support Sustainable Stanford Living Laboratory Programo Manage all event logistics for Sustainable Stanford Living Laboratory hosted events including virtual and in-person, exemplifying sustainable event planning best practices.o Participate in partner events where Sustainable Stanford is present in order to serve as an ambassador of the living laboratory program.o Assist with recruitment and advertising for open student positions, and serve as point of contact on application status.o Establish and manage onboarding tasks with new student staff.o Provide general support to program managers including sustainability data collection and entry.Other duties may be assigned.The successful candidate will embrace the following:Bachelor’s degree and three years of relevant experience, or combination of education and relevant experience.Strong organizational and project management skills.Experience working with college students - recruiting and managing part-time student employees.Experience in sustainability program management.Demonstrated experience in providing high-level independent administrative support.Experience in event planning and coordination.Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Suite, Google Suite, Adobe Acrobat, and web-based applications.Ability to collect, analyze, and report on program metrics.Good verbal and written communication skills.Strong collaboration skills and experience working with diverse populations.Additional Information:Physical Requirements:Constantly perform desk-based computer tasks.Frequently sitting.Occasionally stand/walk, reach/work above shoulders, grasp lightly/fine manipulation, and lift/carry objects up to 25 lbs.Work StandardsDemonstrates the ability to work well with Stanford colleagues and clients.Demonstrates commitment to personal responsibility and value for safety.The expected pay range for this position is $91,000-$99,000 annually.At Stanford University, base pay represents only one aspect of the comprehensive rewards package.
