The application filing will be open continuously at least through Friday, July 12, 2024, and will close any time thereafter.Under immediate supervision of a licensed provider, registered nurse, or nurse manager, the Medical Evaluations Assistant performs duties which assist in providing medical evaluation, treatment, and care, including the administration and evaluation of routine medical tests.The 2430 Medical Evaluations Assistant performs the following essential job functions:Administers medical tests and treatments to patients including but not limited to Snellen, hearing, venipuncture, immunization, electrocardiogram (ECG), electroencephalogram (EEG), and spirometryAssists the provider performing various physical examinations and proceduresCleans and performs simple maintenance of instruments and equipmentMaintains inventory of medical formsMaintains proper inventory (including ordering supplies) and stocking of examination suppliesOperates and uses medical testing equipmentPerforms check-ins, intake, and post-examination dutiesReviews medical examination procedures with patientsPerforms medical data entry and retrieval dutiesPerforms and documents physical and written screening of patientsProcesses patient medical records (including reviewing patient medical records, identifying health care maintenance needs or visit needs)Provides patient and family instruction in preventative health issuesAssists patients with activities of daily living and transportThe 2430 Medical Evaluations Assistant also performs other related duties as assigned.How to qualify

Minimum Qualifications - RequiredEDUCATION

: Possession of a recognized Medical Assistant Degree or Certificate;ANDLICENSE

: Possession of a valid Certified Phlebotomy Technician I Certificate, issued by the State of California, Department of Health Services. (Please attach a copy)License is required at the time of appointmentSubstitution: Any of the following may substitute for the required education:Completion of an EMT-P (Emergency Medical Technician/Paramedic) Training Program;Completion of an EMT Training Program AND two (2) years (equivalent to 4,000 hours) of verifiable medical assisting work experience;Completion of a U.S. Military Corpsman Training Program.Applicants must meet the minimum qualification requirement by the final filing date unless otherwise noted.SPECIAL CONDITIONS:

Some positions require lifting, moving, or carrying from 30 – 50 lbs. of weight. Some positions require ability to assist mobility-impaired patients in and out of wheelchairs, and off and onto examination tables. Bilingual Proficiency: Some positions may require bilingual fluency in a variety of languages depending upon the department's bilingual needs. Only those eligible candidates who pass the bilingual proficiency test will be considered for bilingual positions. Candidates will be required to complete an MQSQ as part of the employment application. This MQSQ is designed to obtain specific information regarding an applicant's experience in relation to the Minimum Qualifications (MQ) for this position. The MQSQ will be used to evaluate if the applicant possesses the required minimum qualifications.Assessment ComponentCandidates that meet the minimum qualifications will be invited to participate in written multiple-choice exam that is designed to measure the knowledge, skills, and abilities in job related areas which may include but not be limited to: knowledge of medical terminology and procedures; knowledge of medical examination and procedures; knowledge of medical testing equipment; ability to plan and organize; ability to operate a computer and navigate through basic software programs; communication/human relations ability, and ability to record keep.Written Examination (Weight: 100%):

Candidates must achieve a passing score on the written multiple-choice exam in order to continue in the selection process and will be placed on the confidential eligible list in rank order according to their final score.Your written exam score will be "banked" for one (1) year. During this one-year period, you will not be required to re-take this examination for another 2430 Medical Assistant announcement. If another announcement is held within twelve months of the date of this examination, and it requires this written test, your score will be automatically applied to that announcement. Re-testing is permitted no sooner than twelve (12) months from the date of the examination and only in association with your eligibility for another announcement for which this test is used.Language Proficiency Exam

For positions requiring bilingual fluency, candidates deemed qualified who meet the special language condition must pass a departmentally approved language proficiency exam prior to appointment. Only those eligible candidates who pass the bilingual proficiency test will be considered for the bilingual position.
