Job Title: Software Engineer, Journeyman JSE GRIDLocation: [Location not specified]Position Summary and Job Responsibilities:Team Background:The Simulation Applications and Architecture (SAA) Branch develops multiple modeling and simulation (M&S) tools in support of warfighter training; test and evaluation (T&E); data analysis; live, virtual, and constructive (LVC); research and development (R&D) activities for DoD agencies and its international partners. The tools include the Global Reusable Interface Domain (GRID), the Weapons Server Common Environment (WSCE), the Simulation Control Executive (SCE), and the Architecture Management Integration Environment (AMIE). The SAA Branch designs, develops, documents, and deploys these products and tools. The Battlespace Division delivers these products as part of an integrated suite of tools called the Joint Simulation Environment (JSE) Technical Baseline (JTB); the battlespace for JSE.Typical Day supporting the GRID team:Design, develop, and evaluate code for real-time modeling of environmental factors in a distributed battlespace simulation.Collaborate with team members and interface with sensor models.Analyze and profile program performance.Work with industry, SMEs, and operators to push the state of the art in simulation used for platform Operational Test and high-end training.Required Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Experience with programming languages such as C++/C/Java/C#/Rust, Python scripting, and algorithm development.Must be able to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.Must be able to obtain and maintain a Special Access Program (SAP) clearance.Must have the ability to accommodate a hybrid schedule (1 week per quarter; every 3 months) onsite support at Pax River (Manager's discretion).Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:Experience with Linux, Git, modeling/simulation, distributed systems, statistics, college-level calculus-based physics, and linear algebra. Basics of signal processing, control theory, and information theory are also a plus.Education:BS in Computer Science or Engineering. Degrees in Information Technology, Mathematics, Physics, or Aerospace, Computer, Software Systems, Electrical, Electronic, Mechanical Engineering may qualify as substitutes.Minimum Years of Experience:3 years relevant to work area.BGI is an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action Employer.
