Church Overview:

Lake Talquin Baptist Church is located West of Tallahassee, Florida in a community of very active members. A staple of the community since 1979, LTBC has increased in attendance and service to the community within the last few years, maintaining an average attendance of over 100 people per Sunday worship service. The LTBC student department is flourishing with a successful van ministry to the community, and we are looking for a Youth Director capable of equipping and leading our students in weekly youth ministry.

A. Position Overview

This part-time position requires a Wednesday evening and Sunday morning schedule with a focus area of youth from 6th-12th grade.

The Youth Director will be primarily responsible for helping students develop a Biblical worldview and strong personal faith.

Through thoughtful planning and preparation, the Youth Director will provide leadership for Bible studies, regular discipleship, evangelism, education, church involvement, and monthly fellowship events in a safe and engaging environment.

The Youth Director will be responsible for developing, coordinating, and administering an effective and comprehensive ministry for youth and their families.

The Youth Director shall:

Be under the direct supervision of and report directly to the Senior Pastor.

Assist the Pastor with ministry care as available.

Work in close cooperation with leadership teams and other members of the church staff.

Collaborate with the Pastoral Team in making LTBC a friendly and welcoming place for youth and their families.

B. Qualifications

The Youth Director shall have a passion for Jesus that is contagious.

This person shall be an approachable and outgoing Christian, a member in good standing of an evangelical church, in agreement with the Baptist Faith and Message 2000 and the Statement of Faith of LTBC.

This person will become a member of Lake Talquin Baptist Church.

This person shall have a genuine commitment to the gospel ministry and a sense of divine call to the ministry of youth (grade 6th-12th).

This person must have the ability to plan, organize, direct and lead the Youth Ministry of a dynamic and growing church while staying current in best practices for working with youth.

This person shall have sufficient skills and experience to relate Bible teachings and applications to real life questions and situations that apply to youth and their families in an increasingly challenging culture.

This person shall demonstrate the ability to meaningfully interact and communicate with youth and their families to build lasting redemptive relationships.

This person shall demonstrate the ability to recruit, train, empower and lead a team of ministry volunteers.

Degree in the appropriate field preferred.

Experience in youth ministry required.

C. Responsibilities

Serve and support the vision, mission and strategic plan of the church.

Leadership

Inspire students and their families to know and follow Jesus while developing a Biblical worldview that promotes cultural discernment.

Create a dynamic, meaningful and safe (physically and emotionally) atmosphere for spiritual growth among youth.

Strategize, create and implement an action plan to develop a growing and vibrant ministry to youth including evangelism and discipleship involvement and fellowship in collaboration with the Senior Pastor and ministry volunteers.

Coordinate and lead Sunday morning and Wednesday night youth services.

Education and training of ministry volunteers.

Personally teach and lead biblically foundational Bible studies for students on Sunday Mornings and Wednesday Evenings.

Plan, implement and attend youth summer camps, DNOW events, outreach activities, fundraisers and/or other church sanctioned youth events.

Recruit, inspire, train, empower and equip ministry volunteers to support the vision of the youth ministry, as well as coordinate ministry volunteer scheduling.

Communication

Create an effective informational network and calendar to communicate schedules and responsibilities to ministry volunteers.

Prepare communications/updates regarding Youth Ministry for parents and church family.

Finance

Work with A&S committee to create and maintain a budget within the established guidelines and in compliance with LTBC Bylaws and Policies.

Direct the church administration as to the purchasing of supplies needed for the youth.

Safety

Oversee the safety and cleanliness of youth ministry space.

Assist church office with maintaining necessary student health records.

Ensure proper completion of background checks for all youth ministry volunteers prior to their participation.

D. Compensation

Compensation shall initially be set at $175 per week with the required hours of Wednesday evening service and Sunday morning service.

Adjustments to compensation through raise or promotion will be evaluated by the Senior Pastor and A&S Committee when appropriate.
