The Senior Mining Engineer provides technical expertise, support, training, and leadership in reference to MLC’s mining activities across the enterprise. The Senior Mining Engineer also provides leadership of the Ste. Gen. Surveyor/Mine Planner and Mining Engineers. The Senior Mining Engineer applies core values of Operational Excellence and Sustainability in maintaining the stewardship of our deposits and businesses.Responsibilities include:Partnering with operation leaders to drive organizational changes.Interfacing with resource leaders and management to develop strategies for the business.Monitoring and encouraging communication across all business units.Creating a network of communication utilizing MOC and other systems.Exploring data to measure the impact of changes and maximizing that impact.Maintaining Short and Long Term mine plans with a focus on safety and extraction of minerals.Reporting extraction ratios, optimizing yield, and managing gradations for surface manufacturing sites.Providing mining expertise on roof and rib stability and managing geological and geotechnical needs.Coordinating regularly with Operations, Geology, and Survey groups.Leading Mine Planner/Surveyor and Mining engineering teams.Developing employees through feedback and mentoring process engineers.Requirements/Qualifications
Education: BS in Mining Engineering, Geology, Geological Engineering, or closely related field is required.Other qualifications include:Ability to make engineering generalizations with minimal supervision.Capability to independently support areas of responsibility.Effective communication with all functional groups and levels of the organization.Utilization of project management tools to optimize execution.Demonstrated commitment to teamwork and leadership skills.The Fine Print
