BreakPoint Labs is seeking a second shift Senior Network Engineer to support the High Performance Computing Modernization Program’s Defense Research Engineering Network (DREN) and Secret Defense Research Engineering Network (SDREN) networks. This is an excellent opportunity for someone interested in progressing their career having achieved the experience necessary for this role. We need someone with a strong networking background, yet the candidate does not have to have supervised or led people before. The work allows a few days on site and a few days remote per week.Responsibilities include:Providing technical guidance for monitoring information systems operations.Designing, building, and implementing network systems.Directing the compilation of records/reports concerning network operations and maintenance.Troubleshooting network performance issues.Analyzing network traffic and providing capacity planning solutions.Monitoring and responding to complex technical control facility hardware and software problems.Interfacing with vendor support service groups to ensure proper escalation during outages or periods of degraded system performance.Providing routine testing and analysis of elements of the network facilities (including power, software, communications machinery, lines, modems, and terminals).Monitoring and responding to hardware, software, and network problems.Supervising complex operations that involve functions such as network operations, systems security, systems software support, and production support activities.Working with personnel engaged in the operation and support of network facilities, including communications on various platforms in large-scale or multi-shift operations.Providing input to policy level discussions regarding standards.Providing assistance and oversight for all information systems operations activities, including computer and telecommunications/communications operations, data entry, data control, LAN/MAN/WAN administration and operations support, operating systems programming, system security policy procedures, and/or web strategy and operations.Managing the testing, installation, and support of network communications, including LAN/MAN/WAN systems.Performing system-level design and configuration of products including determination of hardware, OS, and other platform specifications.Planning large-scale systems projects through vendor comparison and cost studies.Performing a variety of systems engineering tasks for major systems design, integration, and implementation, including personnel, hardware, software, and support facilities and/or equipment.Utilizing software and hardware tools to identify and diagnose complex problems and factors affecting network performance.Troubleshooting network systems, and make improvements to the network, when necessary.Accept on-call duties as a part of a team rotation for a maximum single instance per month.Required Experience:Relevant, technical experience in enterprise or data center environment.Understanding of IPv4 and IPv6 routing and multicast is required.Working knowledge and experience with data center technologies, such as: Local (LAN) and wide-area networks (WAN), NAS and/or SAN storage technologies, firewalls, routers, switches, VPNs.Understanding of network protocols, such as TCP/IP, WINS, DHCP, DNS, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, SMTP, etc.Network security, intrusion detection, and server monitoring experience.Familiarity with Palo Alto, F5, Gigamon, Juniper, Symantec, Fidelis, Fluency, and HAIPE/EDE technologies desired.Certifications Required:

Interim Top Secret, or Top SecretEducation Level Required:

Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Computer Science or Equivalent. (Experience in lieu of education will be allowed).
