Description

As a Senior LVN Float, you will provide nursing support and leadership in the Department of Urology. Major duties will include providing patient care in an outpatient setting, assisting with urologic procedures such as cystoscopies and bladder installations, starting I.V's, performing venipuncture, administering medications, managing patient flow, collecting data as appropriate, and providing back-up for the clinic front desk, as needed. You will also spend a significant portion of time contributing to the development and implementation of a teaching plan related to self-care for the patient. In this role, you will also travel and work at other UCLA Urology clinics throughout the community as assigned by the supervisor for coverage.LVN Salary range: $29.21 - $38.55 HourlySr. LVN Salary range: $34.61 - $45.66 HourlyQualifications

Required:CA LVN License (will be hired as a Sr. LVN if license is with IV and Blood Withdrawal Certification and LVN if license is without IV Certification)A current, valid CPR/BLS certification through the American Heart Association or American Red CrossPhlebotomy Certification (if LVN license is without IV Certification)Ability to work flexible hours and travel to other Urology clinics as assignedAbility to perform patient assessments and take appropriate actionSkill at setting up and maintaining sterile fieldsAbility to work as part of a team, communicate effectively, and establish cooperative working relationships with administrators, doctors, peers, and the publicKnowledge and experience in administering intramuscular and oral medication and monitoring I.V.Ability to assess inventory levelsKnowledge and understanding of medical diagnostic and therapeutic proceduresKnowledge of specific treatment protocols to be utilizedAbility to exhibit flexibility in adjusting to changing demands and requirements of the positionPreferred:Knowledge of urologic conditions and their treatmentsAbility to assist with cystoscopic examinationTreatment skills including catheterizations and bladder installationsExperience with varied computer hardware and software including word processing, spreadsheets, and database programs and the UCLA Hospital Information SystemExpertise in speaking clearly and distinctly, in both Spanish and English, using appropriate vocabulary and grammar, to obtain and convey information to patients and individuals at various organizational levels, both in person and over the phone
