Job Definition
Successfully provide technical, engineering, and project management services related to the design, maintenance, operations, improvements of and additions to the District’s facilities and systems in a technically sound, safe, timely, and cost effective manner to enable the District to realize its goals and objectives. Plans, organizes, assigns, and conducts work requiring judgment in the independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. Performs as project leader on medium to large projects and assignments.
The Distribution Management Systems Engineer supports the District's Advanced Distribution System Management (ADMS) suite of applications from a planning perspective. In addition to supporting the existing software and serving as liaison between Operations and Engineering, this position will act as the software expert accountable for advanced application configuration and testing in a secure environment for a new ADMS.
Experience/Education
Engineer III - $124,799 to $155,975 Annually
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Four (4) years of related engineering experience;
OR
Eight (8) years of directly related engineering experience and a Washington State Professional Engineering License (PE) in-lieu of a Bachelor's Degree.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Professional Engineer - $156,523 to $195,655 Annually
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Six (6) years of related engineering experience.
OR
Ten (10) years of directly related engineering experience
Preferred Education and Experience :
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Principal Engineer - $175,306 to $219,134 Annually
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in an Engineering related field, AND
Eight (8) years of related engineering experience.
OR
Twelve (12) years of directly related engineering experience
Preferred Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Preferred Qualifications
A strong power system background, including proficiency in equipment modeling in power flow applications;
Advanced application configuration and testing;
Software troubleshooting, error correction, and debugging when power flows don’t converge;
Power flow result interpretation and reporting;
Familiarity with short-circuit analysis and protective device coordination principles;
Experience in supervisory control and data acquisition system modeling, communication networks, and user interface.
Ability to work effectively with stakeholders from a variety of backgrounds.
Excellent analytical, time management, and communication skills are required. This work is related to a Department of Energy grant and requires reporting, meeting deadlines, and demonstrating compliance with funding requirements.
