Job Summary and QualificationsThis is a leadership position within HCA Healthcare’s Risk & Insurance department, supervising directly or indirectly six employees, and reporting directly to the VP Insurance. In this role you will be responsible for the design and maintenance of an efficient, effective, customer oriented insurance programs protecting the assets of HCA globally. You will assess the insurable risks of the organization and partner with external insurance brokers to evaluate commercial insurance products to protect those assets. Responsibility also includes managing contractual reviews throughout the organization with focus on risk transference and in alignment with insurance programs and risk appetite. As the AVP you will also manage the physician underwriting team including developing and promoting insurance programs that are responsive to local facility needs, particularly with regard to any employed, contracted or staff physician needs.

What you will do in this role:

Investigate and understand the insurable risks associated with HCA’s business to be able to evaluate commercially available insurance products and their capacity to adequately and reasonably protect HCA assets.

Evaluate, develop and maintain unique and appropriate insurance programs for HCA’s partnerships and other ventures on a worldwide basis.

Procure and maintain insurance programs for insurable risks and coverage lines at optimal cost and effectiveness. Assume primary responsibility for multiple insurance programs as agreed with VP Insurance.

Develop, maintain and nurture relationships with external insurance brokers and consultants that support the placement of insurance products and programs.

Manage the daily insurance and physician underwriting operations while maintaining excellent customer service. Those operations include:

Policy issuance and historical maintenance

Issuance of certificates of insurance

Coverage analysis and determination Coverage verifications

Consulting advice including contract reviews

Provide subject matter expertise to facilities and operating units identifying and raising risk concerns that may arise in the proposed course of their business, and as appropriate developing solutions that harmonize with the Company’s consolidated insurance program.

Promote insurance services and products to HCA facilities, operating units and affiliates as a way to effect enterprise-wide insurance cost reductions.

Develop and manage comprehensive physician underwriting programs that are responsive to the needs of HCA’s Physician Services Group and maintain accurate historical records relating to the programs.

Maximize claims’ recovery on insurance lines (i.e. property, auto, director’s & officer’s, fiduciary, crime, cyber, etc.).

Perform evaluations on legal matters and/or demands to determine if insurance is applicable.

Up to 25% travel.

Qualifications you will need:

Bachelor Degree required

10 years of relevant work experience Insurance

Excellent Communication, Negotiation & Presentation skills

Insurance certification preferred Property & Casualty Broker license preferred
