Your RoleThe Data and Analytics (D&A) organization focuses enterprise-wide to partner with business stakeholders to apply the power of data & analytics to deliver new insights and data-driven solutions to accelerate business outcomes. The Data Services & Solutions team is part of the centralized D&A organization and leads the design and implementation of data solutions and data products. The Data Modeler, Senior will report to the Manager of Data Management. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining Data Vault 2.0 and Dimensional models within the D&A organization. You will be providing strategic direction, mentoring junior team members, and leading and enforcing data modeling standards and best practices. We are looking for leaders that are energized by creative and critical thinking, building, and sustaining high-performing teams, getting results the right way, and fostering continuous learning.Your WorkIn this role, you will:Demonstrate lead-level capabilities in conceptual analysis, problem-solving, and data analysisTake ownership of initiatives or projects with the ability to lead and facilitate business requirements and data analysis and modeling sessionsLead data model review sessions; Develop, adopt and mature the data modeling standards and guidelines aligning to industry best practicesCollaborate with subject matter experts, business analysts, data analysts, and other data modelers to create data modeling deliverablesProvide support in the use of enterprise data, including guidance in understanding and exploitation of the underlying data and business models, and identifying optimal data sourcing and mappingAssist in developing and publishing data management standards, policies, and procedures, including the management and maintenance of related tools and environmentsCreate fully attributed and documented conceptual, logical and physical modelsCreate, validate, and update the data dictionary by coordinating with data governance team and business users. Capture business rules for logical and physical mapping in the models; Work closely with the data governance team to define data classification, PHI/sensitive information, and enterprise reference data in Collibra and modeling toolGenerate physical model DDL and SQL for views for data engineering implementationYour Knowledge and ExperienceRequires a bachelor's degree or equivalent experienceRequires at least 5 years of prior relevant experiencePrefers at least 5 years of experience responsible for the analysis and design of data models at the conceptual, logical, and physical levels and for the development and maintenance of existing enterprise modelsExperience with Data Vault 2.0Demonstrated ability to understand, produce, and extend large and complex data models for operational and dimensional reporting data storesExperience with ERWIN or ER/Studio as modeling tool, with additional Model Mart management experience preferredStrong SDLC knowledge, with excellent process and application system documentation skillsSolid understanding of Data Management and Metadata Management processes and principles, with the ability to effectively communicate and sell those ideas to othersExcellent analytical skillsStrong interpersonal skills, with competence in interfacing with business users requiredPay Range:The pay range for this role is: $99,000.00 to $148,500.00 for California.Note:Please note that this range represents the pay range for this and many other positions at Blue Shield that fall into this pay grade. Blue Shield salaries are based on a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, location (California, Bay area, or outside California), and current employee salaries for similar roles.
