Job Summary:

The Memory Care Programming Director 1 is responsible for the overall implementation, delivery, and coordination of the Memory Care Program services, including health services and activities, at the community. Responsible for planning, coordinating and facilitating a robust calendar of dementia friendly programs that meet specific needs of each and all residents within the dementia care community. Through the Wickshire Way, our relationship-centered care approach, provide resident engagement programs while engaging residents in meaningful and purposeful programs within the Wickshire community

Essential Functions:

Assumes the responsibility for the design and development of recreation and activity programs to meet the assessed needs, interests, and capabilities of the Residents in the community.

Carries out responsibilities in accordance with Wickshires policies and applicable laws.

Is completely familiar with the state regulations governing Assisted Living and memory support care, ensuring compliance in department by regularly reviewing regulations checklist.

Confers with the Health & Wellness Director/Executive Director regarding assessments of residents, admissions, and participates in discussions regarding resident discharge based on discharge criteria.

Creates Resident Histories and Profiles with family involvement. Creates summary of information from histories. Shares information with associates as well as develop activities based on these interests.

Manages expenses within given budget parameters utilizing spend-down sheets.

Plans a varied monthly activity calendar using Resident History and Profiles to determine resident interests.

Arranges for appropriate spiritual activities as reflected by resident preferences.

Posts a community calendar monthly according to Wickshire expectations.

Encourages all residents to participate in some or all of activities according to their abilities and preferences. Maintains record of resident attendance.

Ability to drive the community vehicle to transport Community residents, including but not limited to providing transportation to local physician or dental offices, trips outside Wickshire for shopping, entertainment, education, and/or appointments, both non-medical and medical, outside of the Community, as assigned.

Arranges for a variety of exercise opportunities suitable for the elderly population to enhance residents mobility, strength, bone mass, and social interaction.

Keeps sufficient activity program and craft supplies on hand for in-house entertainment.

Facilitates, co-facilitates, or arranges monthly Alzheimers support group for families and outside community.

Creates positive associate relations through associate appreciation programs, recognition of excellent performance, and retention through regular feedback systems and promotional incentive programs.

Observes and demonstrates appropriate caregiving, programming, and interaction skills with the direct care associate.

Assures responsibilities for Daily Program assignments are clearly delineated.

Lead in-depth Alzheimers/dementia care associate training for new associates; provide training as needed and provide in-services as needed to keep associate abreast of current practices, if deemed appropriate.

Maintains a high level of daily communication with associate and key personnel.

Completes all mandatory compliance, HIPAA and state and federal regulatory training as required.

Maintains appropriate degree of confidentiality.

Education and Experience:

Bachelors Degree from a four-year college or university, or one to three years related experience and/or training in working with the Alzheimers population; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certifications, Licenses, and other Special Requirements:

Assisted Living Activities certification, if required by State. Must be in possession of, or have the ability to obtain, a valid state drivers license. Certified Dementia Care Practitioner, preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Exhibit good time management and organization skills.

Possess the ability to handle complex issues.

Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.

Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel and Outlook).
