The successful candidate will assist the research manager in tracking the project's progress as well as compiling and evaluating research data. This role involves coordinating with a diverse team of experts, managing resources efficiently, and maintaining clear communication with stakeholders.This role requires a proactive individual capable of engaging with a range of stakeholders to support a critical research project that will inform future policy decisions on electrical power infrastructure and availability. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical expertise and strategic thinking to contribute to the study's success. This role also requires a detail-oriented approach for producing high-quality analyses suitable for submission to senior government leaders and Congress. Come join our award-winning organization and work with some of the most talented and brightest minds in the GovCon industry.Location:Bethesda, MDSecurity Clearance:TS/SCI with CI PolyResponsibilities:The research assistant will be responsible for assisting the research manager in coordinating and general oversight of the research project including data collection, data analysis, and ensuring the timely delivery of findings. The successful candidate will participate in drafting proposals, selecting methods, and presenting findings.Collaborate with research teams to assist in defining the scope and objectives of the study.Compile and organize data responses from various agencies, ensuring accuracy and completeness.Analyze collected data to identify trends, insights, and key findings related to electrical power availability.Prepare comprehensive reports and presentations that communicate research findings to stakeholders.Coordinate with government and industry partners to facilitate information exchange and support study objectives.Consolidating results from literature reviews.Attending project meetings.Write reports to summarize progress, findings, and the implications of the results.Preparing questions for data calls and collecting data.Conducting analysis of data.Maintain quality standards to preserve the integrity of data and findings.The ideal candidate will have experience with Congressional research or policy studies, preferably in energy-related topics, and possess superior communication and organizational skills to effectively liaise with government agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators.Requirements:TS/SCI w CI Poly.Typically requires a BA degree and 8 - 12 years of prior relevant experience or Masters with 6 - 10 years of prior relevant experience.This position is a short-term assignment, 6-8 months, possibly up to a year.Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.Proficient in data management and analysis software.Excellent communication and report writing skills.Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.Excellent skills in teamwork and data analysis, enabling them to effectively lead teams, present findings, collaborate on project planning and execution, and analyze and interpret data.Proven work experience as a research assistant, business analyst, or similar role.Excellent administrative skills.Knowledge of research methods.Ability to work under pressure.Excellent time management skills.Proficient in data analysis and interpretation of complex research findings.Desired Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have experience with Congressional research or policy studies, preferably in energy-related topics, and possess superior communication and organizational skills to effectively liaise with government agencies, industry partners, and academic collaborators.Experience responding to congressional queries as well as conducting studies and research.Familiarity with Congressionally Directed Actions.Experience working with congressional staffers or drafting legislative correspondence.Strong understanding of electrical power systems and related regulatory issues.A degree in the field related to the study.Familiarity with federal nuclear energy regulations and compliance requirements.Marathon TS is committed to the development of a creative, diverse and inclusive work environment.
