This infrastructure provides Expeditors the global connectivity, compute power, and storage to meet its growing demand to move freight. The Unix Administrator is responsible for the support, troubleshooting, installation, and deployment of UNIX based systems. The Unix Administrator assists and instructs regional staff to perform operating system updates, patching, installations, and troubleshooting.KEY RESPONSIBILITIESUtilizing Infrastructure as Code best practices, develop, maintain, and enhance systems using scripting/programming languages such as Bash, Ansible, Python or CPerform system builds and hardware upgrades for UNIX serversEnable and maintain system backups utilizing backup software and web-based monitoring toolsProvides tier 3 production support for servers and data storage including after-hours on-call supportDiagnose and isolate operating system, server-side networking, and application-related problems; create workarounds or conduct system and disk recovery as necessaryPerform hardware maintenance, repairs, and replacementsProvide recommendations to management through research and review of recent industry solutions in various UNIX related technologiesCreate documentation and training material; provide training to othersThis position is on-site and will reside in the greater Seattle, WA. area at one of the following locations depending on availability. Candidates must be local or willing to relocate.
