We are responsible for deployment tools and the Mailchimp Development Environment. We are currently evolving our environment to adapt to cloud development and support cloud-focused CI/CD tooling.We are looking for a Staff Software Engineer to join our team! As a key team member, your responsibility will be to design, develop, and enhance the tools and processes that enable Developers and other internal customers to efficiently create, promote, deploy, and build their respective applications. Additionally, you will help build the team’s technical roadmap to ensure seamless workflow and customer satisfaction across the developer’s community.The ideal candidate is a technical leader who has experience working in and operating large-scale solutions, plus familiarity with current technology trends and patterns. In addition to technical expertise, you must also be a skilled communicator and collaborator comfortable working across Engineering teams and multiple partner departments.Intuit Mailchimp is a
hybrid workplace , giving employees the opportunity to collaborate in person with team members in our Atlanta office two or more days per week.Responsibilities
Write and maintain scalable, efficient code for the Mailchimp Developer Experience, DevOps, and deployment of the development.Work with engineering team members to build tooling enhancements from concept through implementation.Spearhead efforts to establish patterns and processes and lead the team through examples in your own work.Empower team members by providing technical guidance.Remain up-to-date on evolving tools and patterns for managing infrastructure and guide the implementation of them when necessary.Help scope, estimate, and prioritize work.Analyze performance results and identify areas for improvement.Provide technical guidance on large-scale projects that may span multiple engineering teams.Embrace and demonstrate our values: empathy, creativity, and collaboration.Work with development teams to optimize deployment performance.Collaborate with, mentor, and train other engineers.Establish patterns that help with consistency and engineer effectiveness across the organization.Work collaboratively and cross-functionally to solve complex issues.Minimum Requirements
BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience.5+ years of experience in performance and load testing.Deep understanding of application performance within Kubernetes deployments.Fullstack experience.Deep understanding of Continuous Integration and Deployment solutions and best practices.Strong programming skills in Python, PHP, Go, Java, or a similar language.Extensive experience working within large-scale development environments and building infrastructure to support them.Exceptional analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills, using data to make decisions.Strong understanding of cloud networking.Experience with system-level troubleshooting (understanding logs, strace, netstat, top/htop, istat, etc.).Experience with databases, particularly MySQL.Thoughtful communicator—our team is distributed, so effective written communication is key.Preferred Qualifications
Experience with or interest in the following areas are pluses, but not required:Caching systems (e.g. Memcached).Cloud Providers (e.g. AWS, GCP, Azure).Object-relational mappings (ORMs).Infrastructure as Code (AWS CDK, Terraform, JCaaS).Testing patterns.Containerization.Kubernetes.Linux.Python.
