Specific Qualifications:

Understanding of and ability to manage program budget, demonstrate leadership qualities including supervisory skills, capacity to motivate performance, and problem solve utilizing positive team-enhancing approaches and mindful communication.

A combination of education, professional experience and/or life experience which will enable the provision of services regarding Sexual Assault (SA) and Domestic Violence (DV) including dating violence and stalking.

Capable of empathic response to victims/survivors of sexual assault and/or domestic violence victims utilizing a victim centered approach.

Work with individuals from diverse backgrounds. Ability to maintain confidentiality within program and community.

Ability to work evenings and weekends if job requires.

Ability to work as part of a team and collaborate effectively with other victim-centered service providers and stakeholders.

Education & Technical Skills:

Minimum requirements include a B.A. or B.S. Degree or near-completion of a B.A. or B.S. Degree in Social Work, Psychology, or any relevant behavioral health and at least 2 years of work experience in domestic violence or related field including assessment, evaluation, and intervention for the related target group as well as the management of trauma-informed service.

A waiver for the Bachelor’s Degree may be considered in lieu of 4 years of experience providing full-time advocacy with survivors of domestic violence or other related supervisory experience.

Experience in utilizing database or CRM software preferred.

Function:

Reporting to the Program Director, the Shelter Director will oversee trauma-informed service delivery and management of the Family Violence Shelter.

Responsibilities:

Adheres to YWCA Personnel Policies and Procedures for all HR related issues. Works with Director of HR for recruitment and HR questions. Provides training to new staff.

Provides direct supervision and performance evaluation for Resident Coordinator, Shelter Coordinator, Shelter Advocate, Children’s Services Specialist, and Crisis Intervention Advocates. Conducts weekly staff meetings.

As a supervisor, be able to communicate organizational needs, oversee employees' performance, provide guidance, accountability, support, identify development needs, and manage the reciprocal relationship between staff and the organization so that each is successful.

Contribute to and collaborate with Leadership Team to the ongoing development and strategies that aim to promote the organization’s mission and internal culture of DEIB.

Coordinates with Director of Crisis Services to optimize direct service delivery and create staff training opportunities.

Provides on-call after hours (evenings and weekends) support and in-person coverage as needed for Shelter staff, Crisis Services Coordinators, and Crisis Intervention Advocates.

Develops emergency plan and ensures preparedness for Family Violence Shelter program and facility; maintains responsibility for Shelter operation in the event of an emergency or natural disaster.

In conjunction with other on-duty staff, answers hotline calls and screens clients for intake into program. Provides emotional support for residents to help them acknowledge, understand, and process their feelings resulting from the violence and abuse they have experienced. Maintains current records for each resident.

Ensures staff members complete intake interviews and provide ongoing case management support for assessing and meeting physical, emotional, and psycho-educational needs.

Maintains records and statistical reports as required by funding contracts and state and federal regulations. Completes reports as assigned. Assists with data and narrative for grant reports and ensures deadlines are met.

Oversees Family Violence Shelter budget and coordinates with Chief Financial Officer and Accountant as needed (budget includes petty cash, coding, approval, and sign-off of Shelter expenditures). Attends twice-monthly Directors Meeting.

Provides training and in-services to other social service agencies or groups on domestic violence, sexual assault, and/or trafficking as needed.

Ensures that reports on all suspected or confirmed child abuse and neglect situations are made as required by law.

Assists with Shelter and YWCA events which may occur such as the Annual Candlelight Vigil, YWCA fundraising events, YWCA Quarterly Meetings, trainings, and other activities as requested by Director of Programs or Executive Director.

All other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements:

Valid driver’s license, vehicle and proof of insurance.

Current First Aid and CPR certification.

Willing and able to work at multiple locations on Kauaʻi and off island.

Required to maintain client confidentiality.

Pay: $57,000.00 per year
