Job Summary:
We are seeking a Director to help manage a portfolio of complex financings on Affordable Multifamily Properties collateralized by commercial real estate construction and operating properties. Construction assets include major ground-up, renovation, and capital improvement/leasing projects. Operating properties include transitional / bridge / value-add assets spanning a broad variety of major U.S. markets. This position is client-facing on a dedicated team working with the Bank’s senior leaders in Affordable Housing division, as well as Credit Risk Management. Services are provided in partnership with the client’s own activities.
Responsibilities:
Assessing performance of managed assets in the portfolio relative to original underwriting or business plans, competitors, and market conditions
Reviewing and approving monthly or quarterly reporting
Interacting with borrowers and third-party lenders / servicers, as well as consultants including attorneys, title agents, brokers and sales agents, and construction consultants
Coordinating communications between multiple stakeholders including borrowers and lender partners, as well as internal business and credit leadership
Performing annual reviews (operating, financial and market performance), in addition to quarterly assessments of assets in assigned portfolio
Reviewing and approving draw requests for properties under construction
Coordinating asset servicing and reporting responsibilities with internal departments to ensure proper tracking and timely and accurate reporting
Review and analyze loan modification, forbearance, extension, and refinance opportunities
Review and evaluate monthly / quarterly operating performance (Rent Rolls, Operating Statements, Collections)
Perform regular compliance tests for loan covenants (Debt-Yield, Loan-to-Value, Debt Service Coverage, Guarantor Liquidity and Net Worth)
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in finance, real estate, or a related field, with a minimum of 7 years of underwriting and/or lender asset management experience on multifamily properties; or, a Master’s Degree in finance, real estate, or a related field, with 5 years of underwriting and/or lender asset management experience on multifamily properties, with experience in Affordable multifamily (LIHTC, HUD, Tax-Exempt Bonds) strongly preferred
Minimum 7 years of experience working with complex real estate legal documents
Minimum 7 years of construction lending or asset management in Commercial Real Estate
Minimum 7 years of experience underwriting, researching, comparing, analyzing and reporting data on multifamily assets
Demonstrated knowledge and experience in commercial real estate debt operations
Strong internal and external relationship management skills
Proven ability to work with large transaction volumes in a time sensitive, deadline driven environment
Solid understanding of complex and challenging commercial real estate structured-finance transactions
Solid analytical and negotiating skills
Solid understanding of Real Estate Capital Markets
Strong mathematical aptitude
Proficiency in Excel, Word, and Outlook
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (Real Estate, Business, Finance or Accounting preferred)
Advanced proficiency with Excel and other Microsoft Office applications
